How much does the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices are up 6.11% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 150 listings available, which gives you a modest pool to compare before you commit.

Is the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe earns an 8.17/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

The Santa Fe is positioned as a genuinely usable three-row people mover, with room for six sizable people and a cabin that feels roomier and more comfortable than several rivals. It also brings stylish design and engaging driving dynamics, so you get more emotional appeal than a purely practical family hauler.

That mix makes it a strong fit if you want a midsize crossover that balances everyday usefulness with a more upscale feel. 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe is presented as a sensible choice for safety and cost of ownership, and its powertrain is described as strong, refined, and quiet in operation. The 3.3-liter V6 and 6-speed automatic are portrayed as smooth and capable, even when the vehicle is loaded with passengers.

Hyundai also backs the Santa Fe with a 5-year/60,000-mile limited warranty, 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage, and 5 years of roadside assistance, which helps reduce early ownership worry. The model is also described as hitting its EPA fuel-economy targets, which is a useful sign for day-to-day ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that you should still verify maintenance history and condition carefully, since ownership costs and dependability can vary with how the vehicle was treated.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe?

At 52.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on bodywork, suspension, brakes, and electronics. Because this is a family-focused crossover, pay close attention to seat condition, cargo-area wear, and whether all convenience features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Santa Fe lineup includes the 5-passenger Santa Fe Sport and the larger 7-passenger Santa Fe, and the bigger model’s Limited trim adds leather seats, a power front passenger’s seat, second-row captain’s chairs, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless passive entry with push-button start, a power liftgate, a blind-spot information system, upgraded instrumentation, manual rear side window sunshades, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror with a compass, and a universal garage door opener.
• Powertrain: The larger Santa Fe uses a 3.3-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and Active Eco driving mode; AWD is optional and adds torque-vectoring traction control.
• Safety package: Blue Link telematics with Automatic Collision Notification and SOS Emergency Assistance is standard, while a reversing camera, rear parking assist sensors, and a blind-spot information system are available; the review also notes that the reversing camera could be better and that active headlights are not included.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming, satellite radio, an auxiliary audio input jack, and a USB port, while available upgrades include HD Radio, a navigation and infotainment system with an 8-inch color touchscreen display, and a Surround Sound audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Santa Fe is rated at 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, or 24 mpg highway with AWD, and it is rated at 21 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe trim should I buy?

The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe is offered in 2 trim levels: Santa Fe GLS and Santa Fe Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Santa Fe GLS: This is the starting point, and it makes the Santa Fe’s core strengths available without stepping up to the pricier luxury-leaning equipment. It’s the trim to focus on if you want the model’s space, V6 power, and family-friendly basics at the lowest entry price.
• Santa Fe Limited: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete version of the Santa Fe experience, because it adds leather seats, second-row captain’s chairs, a power front passenger’s seat, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, a power liftgate, and a blind-spot information system.

The available Technology Package adds navigation, an 8-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, and other upgrades, while the Limited’s version also adds HID headlights, LED taillights, and premium audio.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Act selectively, because this is still a seller’s market and the best listings can move quickly.

• Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 150 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 6.11% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 52.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,600, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $9,421 sits slightly above last year's $8,878.

That upward move suggests the Santa Fe has held demand well enough to support stronger pricing. If you buy carefully and keep the vehicle in good condition, that can help you preserve value better than you might expect from an older crossover.

For a future seller, the key takeaway is that clean history and strong maintenance records should matter a lot. A well-kept example is more likely to stand out in a market where prices have already moved higher.

Is the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe safe?

The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe earns Good ratings in 4 of 5 IIHS tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Blue Link telematics with Automatic Collision Notification and SOS Emergency Assistance is standard, and available safety equipment includes a reversing camera, rear parking assist sensors, and a blind-spot information system. The review also notes that the reversing camera could use a wider field of vision, and the IIHS had not yet assessed the Santa Fe in the difficult small-overlap frontal-impact test at the time.

Should I buy a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 6.11% year-over-year.
• It combines roomy three-row practicality with stylish design and engaging driving dynamics.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $9,599, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $9,421 average.
• It adds a more engaging turbocharged engine.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and a more established safety-and-cost-of-ownership story, the 2014 is the smarter starting point. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model and want the turbocharged driving character, the 2015 is worth a look.
