How much does the 2014 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 3.12% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 779 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot a good car?

Generally — 4.44/5. The expert rating is 6.83/10, and the model scores 8/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the Pilot for its spacious seating, comfort, and reliability, and they also like how well it accommodates more passengers. That lines up with the Pilot’s practical, family-first mission: it’s built to move people and cargo efficiently rather than impress with style or tech.

The market also shows 30.4% of listings as good or great deals, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.44/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to reliability, comfort, and a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience as recurring strengths. The expert evaluation also says reliability is expected to be better than average, and the Pilot’s straightforward mechanical setup supports that impression.

Honda’s cost-effectiveness notes also point to better-than-average reliability expectations, which is reassuring if you plan to keep the vehicle for the long haul. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that age and mileage can expose wear-related issues, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Pilot?

At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on signs of prior body damage, uneven wear, and any evidence that the vehicle has been used hard or maintained inconsistently. Because this model is valued for practicality, you’ll want to make sure the cabin, cargo area, and mechanical condition all match the seller’s claims.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the least expensive version, while the EX adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, a 10-way power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, and a security system. The EX-L adds leather seats, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power sunroof, and a power tailgate with separate liftglass. The Touring adds navigation and a rear-seat entertainment system, plus a premium audio system and memory for the driver’s seat.
• Powertrain: Every Pilot uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 250 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, and 4WD is available with a lock mode for extra traction.
• Safety package: Honda’s ACE body structure is standard, and the Pilot includes basic crash protection without modern driver-assistance tech. The available safety equipment is limited compared with newer family SUVs.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Bluetooth, a USB port, triple-zone climate control with a humidity sensor, and a basic reversing camera. Higher trims add navigation, an upgraded reversing camera, rear-seat DVD entertainment, video input jacks, and a premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Touring 4WD returns 17 mpg city, 24 highway, and 20 combined, and the 4WD system costs you about 1 mpg in each environment compared with front-wheel drive.

Which 2014 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2014 Honda Pilot is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and don’t need much beyond the basics. It’s the simplest Pilot, but it still gives you the core space and utility that define the model.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday equipment like 18-inch wheels, a power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, and a security system without pushing too far upmarket.
• EX-L: This is the right choice if you want a more comfortable family hauler. Leather seats, heated front seats, a sunroof, and a power tailgate make it feel more complete.
• Touring: Choose this if you want the most convenience and tech the Pilot offers, including navigation, rear-seat entertainment, premium audio, and driver-seat memory.

The safety content notes that the Pilot lacks modern safety technology, so even higher trims do not fully close that gap.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 779 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.12% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,605, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $10,773 sits slightly below last year's $11,119.

That downward movement suggests the Pilot is still affordable to buy, but it also means future resale gains are unlikely to come from price appreciation alone. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect your exit value. The model’s practical appeal and broad family usefulness should continue to support demand among shoppers who prioritize space over flash.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.44/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2014 Pilot earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA, and the IIHS called it a Top Safety Pick.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda’s ACE body structure is designed to help disperse crash energy away from the passenger compartment. The Pilot also includes a basic reversing camera, but the tech package is limited compared with newer family SUVs, and the safety content notes that it lacks modern driver-assistance features.

The main caveat is that the Pilot’s safety reputation is tied to older crash-test standards and a limited feature set, so you should not expect the kind of active safety coverage found in newer crossovers.

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.44/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It’s a practical, family-size SUV that prioritizes space, comfort, and usefulness over flash.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,526, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,773 average.
• It remains a spacious 3-row SUV, but the design is aging and the tech still trails newer rivals.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the stronger buy because prices are softer and the model still delivers the space and practicality most Pilot shoppers want. If you can stretch for a newer example and want a slightly fresher take on the same formula, the 2015 is the secondary path — but it asks for more money without changing the Pilot’s core character much.
