CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Honda Odyssey
overall

Summary
With 1,120 currently listed for sale and an average price of $10,849.00, 29.8% of 2014 Honda Odysseys for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Honda Odyssey 4.45 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.83 / 10.
55.3% of 2014 Odyssey models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Honda Odyssey stands out for its broad competence. It is described as capable in the city, in the suburbs, on the highway, and when taken to its limits, which gives it a polished, all-around feel that suits everyday family use. That versatility is a major part of its appeal: it is the kind of minivan that aims to handle nearly every routine task without drawing attention to itself.
Honda’s approach here is to make the Odyssey feel like a thoroughly complete family hauler. The summary says Honda has perfected the minivan recipe, and that the 2014 Odyssey represents the ultimate in family haulers for most Americans, with strengths in safety, technology, performance, and comfort. Owner feedback reinforces the practical side of that formula, especially the spacious interior, automatic doors, and backup camera. The main caveat is that some reviewers reported acceleration and vibration at certain speeds, so while the Odyssey is highly capable and easy to live with, it is not entirely free of drawbacks.

I’ve been searching for an Odyssey since mine was totaled several months ago. When I test drove this one I immediately knew I would buy it. Nothing compares to the versatility and cargo room of a minivan. Road trips cross country are so fun in a van. Instant hotel on wheels.

Feature are nice on Touring model. Dual side doors open which is a plus. T V in middle is a plus. Cup holder was broken off, car has a smell to it. Under hood made a vibrating noise

The automatic doors are very nice, and allow for little children to easily handle their operation. The Hatchback is also motorized, but you have the option to manually open or close it. The Lane Departure and Front Collision warnings are great safety features. This car has some great rates on insurance as well. We get great gas mileage, and have tons of room to haul people or gear around.

How much does the 2014 Honda Odyssey cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $10,746 |
| Year-Round Low | $10,677.14 |
| Year-Round High | $11,631.16 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $11,631 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.60% |
Prices have softened 7.60% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,153 listings available, which suggests solid inventory availability.
If you find a listing below $10,677.14, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2014 Honda Odyssey a good car?
Generally — 4.45/5 from owners and 8.83/10 from experts point to a strong all-around used minivan choice. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.
Owners repeatedly praise the spacious interior, automatic doors, backup camera, and family-friendly ease of use. The overview also frames it as a highly versatile family hauler that fits everyday driving in the city, suburbs, and highway use.
That lines up well with the Odyssey’s practical mission: you want a minivan that makes family life easier without demanding much compromise. 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Honda Odyssey reliable?
Owners rate it 4.45/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner summary points to a dependable, family-friendly experience built around spaciousness and easy day-to-day use, and it also reinforces the kind of trouble-free practicality shoppers usually want from a minivan. The expert driving notes describe the Odyssey as responsive, energetic, and composed, with a transmission that holds a gear for hill climbing and a powertrain that stays smooth while cruising.
Honda also notes that the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house. That helps lower early ownership friction, but used buyers should still watch for signs of wear, especially if the van has seen heavy family use or inconsistent maintenance.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Odyssey?
At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the van has been used as a high-mileage family hauler. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the features you care about still work as intended.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX is the most affordable trim, while the EX adds triple-zone automatic climate control, a 10-way power driver’s seat, power sliding side doors, keyless access with push-button start, a touchscreen audio system with HondaLink technology, Honda LaneWatch technology, a universal garage door opener, and second-row window sunshades. The EX-L adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power sunroof, a power tailgate, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. The Touring adds navigation and rear-seat entertainment together, plus bigger wheels, fog lights, front and rear parking sensors, memory for the driver’s settings, and third-row sunshades. The Touring Elite adds an ultrawide rear entertainment screen, premium Surround Sound audio, HD Radio, HID headlights, Blind Spot Information System, and HondaVAC. The best-value trim is the EX if you want a strong feature jump without moving too far up the price ladder.
- Powertrain: All trims use a 248-hp, 3.5-liter V6 with Variable Cylinder Management and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Honda says the setup is expected to return 19 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway, and the van is described as responsive, energetic, and surprisingly capable.
- Safety package: Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering II body structure is standard, along with SmartVent side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, LaneWatch, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. The Touring Elite adds Blind Spot Information System.
- Infotainment: The LX includes Bluetooth calling and music streaming, hands-free text messaging, Pandora Internet radio, and a USB port. The EX adds HondaLink connectivity and services plus a touchscreen audio system. The EX-L lets you choose either navigation or rear-seat DVD entertainment, while the Touring includes both. The Touring Elite adds an ultrawide rear-seat entertainment screen with HDMI technology, HD Radio, a premium Surround Sound audio system, and HondaVAC.
- Fuel efficiency: Honda says all 2014 Odysseys are expected to get 19 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway, and the review notes a combined estimate of 22 mpg.
Which 2014 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?
The 2014 Honda Odyssey is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, Touring Elite.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Odyssey experience at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the minivan’s space and safety basics without paying for extras.
- EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a meaningful set of convenience and tech upgrades, including power sliding doors, push-button start, HondaLink, and a touchscreen audio system.
- EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and added driver-assistance features. It is a good fit if comfort matters more than keeping the price down.
- Touring: This is the right pick if you want navigation and rear-seat entertainment together, plus parking sensors and other family-friendly upgrades.
- Touring Elite: Buy this only if you want the most loaded Odyssey, including the ultrawide rear entertainment screen, premium audio, Blind Spot Information System, and HondaVAC.
The Touring Elite’s Blind Spot Information System is a notable safety-package upgrade over lower trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Odyssey?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.
- Deal availability: 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,153 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.60% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 55.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $10,677.14, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Honda Odyssey's resale value?
The current average of $10,746 sits slightly below last year's $11,631.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the van has been maintained.
Because the Odyssey has broad family appeal and strong owner satisfaction, clean examples should still attract interest when you decide to sell. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Honda Odyssey safe?
The 2014 Odyssey earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS, with a top rating of Good in every assessment, including the small overlap frontal-impact test.
It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering II body structure is standard, along with SmartVent side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, LaneWatch, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. The Touring Elite trim adds Blind Spot Information System.
Should I buy a 2014 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.60% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- Honda’s safety and tech upgrades make this year a standout in the lineup.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $12,370, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,746 average.
- It adds greater design flair.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger value play, the 2014 is the better buy because pricing has softened and the feature set is already very complete. If you care more about a slightly fresher look and are willing to pay more, the 2015 is the alternative to consider.
