Why it stands out
The 2014 Honda Odyssey stands out as a minivan that feels thoroughly competent in everyday use. It is described as capable in the city, in the suburbs, on the highway, and even when pushed to its limits, which speaks to the broad range of situations it handles well. That versatility is a big part of its appeal for buyers who want a family vehicle that can do nearly everything expected of it without feeling compromised.
Honda’s approach here is also about making the Odyssey a complete family hauler. The test-drive summary praises its blend of safety, technology, performance, and comfort, and says it represents the ultimate in family transportation for most Americans. Owner feedback reinforces that image by pointing to a spacious interior and family-friendly features, along with conveniences such as automatic doors and a backup camera. At the same time, some reviewers mention acceleration and vibration at certain speeds, so while the 2014 Odyssey is widely appealing, it is not entirely free of drawbacks.

I’ve been searching for an Odyssey since mine was totaled several months ago. When I test drove this one I immediately knew I would buy it. Nothing compares to the versatility and cargo room of a minivan. Road trips cross country are so fun in a van. Instant hotel on wheels.

Feature are nice on Touring model. Dual side doors open which is a plus. T V in middle is a plus. Cup holder was broken off, car has a smell to it. Under hood made a vibrating noise

The automatic doors are very nice, and allow for little children to easily handle their operation. The Hatchback is also motorized, but you have the option to manually open or close it. The Lane Departure and Front Collision warnings are great safety features. This car has some great rates on insurance as well. We get great gas mileage, and have tons of room to haul people or gear around.

| Year-Round Low | $10,645 |
| Year-Round High | $11,528 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $11,530 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.46% |

There are 1,227 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2014 Honda Odyssey a good car?
Generally — the 2014 Honda Odyssey earns a 4.45/5 user rating and an 8.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, family-friendly features, automatic doors, and backup camera. The overview also frames it as a highly versatile family hauler that works well in the city, suburbs, on the highway, and even when pushed harder than a typical minivan.
With 35.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a strong-value example if you shop carefully.
Is the 2014 Honda Odyssey reliable?
Owners rate it 4.45/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a vehicle that feels spacious, family-friendly, and easy to live with, while also being described as comfortable and convenient. The expert driving notes add that the Odyssey is capable, composed, and responsive, with smooth power delivery and confident highway manners.
The cost-effectiveness notes also point to average reliability and dependability predictions, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition before committing.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Odyssey?
At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the van has been in any collision. Focus on body condition, signs of repair quality, and whether the family-use features still work as intended. Because this model is often bought for daily duty, it also makes sense to check for wear that comes from heavy passenger and cargo use.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX is the most affordable trim, while higher trims add features such as triple-zone automatic climate control, power sliding side doors, keyless access with push-button start, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power sunroof, a power tailgate, parking sensors, a blind spot information system, and an onboard vacuum. The base trim is the most stripped-down version, so you should compare it carefully against the better-equipped trims if convenience features matter to you.
- Powertrain: A 248-hp, 3.5-liter V6 with Variable Cylinder Management is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The setup is tuned for smooth, responsive everyday driving and helps the van return 19 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway.
- Safety package: Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering II body structure is paired with SmartVent side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, LaneWatch, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. The Touring Elite also adds a Blind Spot Information System.
- Infotainment: The LX includes Bluetooth calling and music streaming, hands-free text messaging, Pandora Internet radio, and a USB port. Higher trims add HondaLink, a touchscreen audio system, and available navigation or rear-seat entertainment, while the Touring Elite adds an ultrawide rear-seat entertainment screen with HDMI technology, HD Radio, and a premium Surround Sound audio system.
- Fuel efficiency: The Odyssey is expected to return 19 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway, and the review notes an observed average of 19.8 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2014 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?
The 2014 Honda Odyssey is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, Touring Elite.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Odyssey experience at the lowest price. Choose it if you want the most affordable way into the model and can live without the extra convenience and luxury features found higher up.
- EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a strong mix of everyday upgrades, including triple-zone automatic climate control, power sliding side doors, keyless access with push-button start, HondaLink, and a touchscreen audio system.
- EX-L: This trim is the right move if you want a more upscale cabin, with leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a power sunroof. It also adds Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning, making it a smart step up for buyers who want more comfort and more safety tech.
- Touring: This is the trim to choose if you want both navigation and rear-seat entertainment together, plus bigger wheels, fog lights, front and rear parking sensors, memory settings, and third-row sunshades.
- Touring Elite: This is the top trim and the one to buy if you want the most equipment, including the ultrawide rear entertainment screen, premium audio, HD Radio, HID headlights, Blind Spot Information System, and HondaVAC.
The safety package expands as you move up the range, with the Touring Elite getting the Blind Spot Information System.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Odyssey?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,227 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.46% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 56.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $10,645, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Honda Odyssey's resale value?
The current average of $10,785 sits slightly below last year's $11,530.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the van has been maintained.
Because this model has strong owner satisfaction, it should continue to attract family buyers who value practicality and comfort. Well-kept examples are likely to hold demand better than neglected ones.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Honda Odyssey safe?
The 2014 Honda Odyssey earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.
It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda’s safety package includes the ACE II body structure, SmartVent side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, LaneWatch, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. The Touring Elite trim adds a Blind Spot Information System.
The IIHS result is especially strong because it includes the small overlap frontal-impact test, which the Odyssey passed with a top rating of Good across the board.
Should I buy a 2014 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.46% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- Honda’s safety upgrades helped it earn a Top Safety Pick+ rating and a 10/10 expert safety score.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $12,395, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,785 average.
- It brings more design flair while staying focused on family use.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the stronger buy because prices are lower and the safety and family-hauling strengths are already well established. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model with a bit more visual polish, the 2015 is the alternative to consider.
