Used 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD for Sale nearPortland, OR

How much does the 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 11.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 447 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

With a user rating of 3.5/5, the 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD looks like a capable heavy-duty pickup that can suit buyers who want straightforward utility with a more upscale GMC presentation. The overview points to a broad range of configurations, including multiple trims, cab styles, bed lengths, and two V8 engine choices, so you can tailor it to work-focused or more comfort-oriented needs.

It also comes with tradeoffs you should weigh carefully: the gas engine can be prone to EGR-related issues, while diesel versions may have cold-start problems from glow plug failure. For shoppers who want a used heavy-duty truck with strong towing-oriented hardware and lots of setup flexibility, it has appeal, but it rewards a careful pre-purchase inspection. 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

The 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD has a straightforward heavy-duty setup with a higher-strength steel frame, a new suspension system, and six-speed automatic transmissions, but the overview also flags several known trouble areas. Gas models can develop EGR-related issues, diesel versions may have glow plug-related cold-start problems, and fuel leaks, transmission shifting issues, and worn suspension, brake, and electrical components are also noted concerns.

That means reliability can be acceptable if the truck has been maintained well, but used buyers should expect a higher need for inspection and documentation than they would with a simpler vehicle. Long-term ownership risk is meaningful if you skip a thorough mechanical check, especially on higher-mileage trucks or examples with incomplete service history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage affected the frame, suspension, cooling system, or electrical components. Then prioritize a hands-on inspection of the engine, transmission behavior, brakes, and suspension, since those are among the areas the overview flags as potential trouble spots. Focus on condition and maintenance records first, because this truck’s value depends heavily on how well it was used and cared for.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

This looks like a selective buyer’s market, where you can still find value if you compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 447 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.25% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,869, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $23,881 sits slightly below last year's $26,909.

That price movement suggests the truck has softened enough to help you buy more selectively today, but it also means future resale may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history. If you keep the truck well documented and avoid examples with accident or mechanical baggage, you’ll be in a better position when it’s time to sell. For a future seller, the strongest resale prospects will likely come from clean, well-maintained trucks with the right configuration and fewer known issues.

Should I buy a 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.25% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2014 makes sense if you want a heavy-duty truck with broad configuration choices and you’re willing to inspect carefully for known mechanical and wear-related issues. If you want the strongest value, focus on clean, well-documented examples; if you’re especially price-sensitive, a later or earlier year may be worth comparing against the 2014’s current market softness.
