How much does the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 6.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,680 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a 4.2/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, strong power, and comfortable interior, and they also like how well it handles on highways and while towing. The overview points to a truck that feels more polished, more comfortable, and more technologically sophisticated than the model it replaced, which makes it a strong fit if you want full-size pickup capability without a bare-bones feel.

Only 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than flooded with bargains.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a truck that many drivers find dependable in daily use, with praise centered on its smooth ride, strong power, and comfortable interior. The expert overview also describes it as a truck you can count on for towing and highway use, and the cost-effectiveness notes say the Sierra has historically impressed owners in early ownership quality.

If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is that some listings may carry mechanical or rust concerns, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a hands-on inspection of body condition, underbody condition, and signs of prior repair. Because owner feedback mentions mechanical issues and rust problems, those areas deserve extra attention before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra is offered in Regular, Double, and Crew Cab body styles, with standard, SLE, and SLT trim levels. The cabin gets soft-touch surfaces, a premium headliner, and, in many models, genuine aluminum trim, while the SLT adds a more upscale interior presentation.
• Powertrain: You can choose among a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter V8, all paired with a 6-speed automatic. The V6 is rated at 285 hp and can tow up to 7,200 pounds, while the 5.3-liter V8 is the likely volume engine and the 6.2-liter V8 is the strongest option.
• Safety package: Most models come with OnStar and a reversing camera, and GMC offers a Driver Alert Package with front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat. Side Blind Zone Alert is notably absent.
• Infotainment: The truck uses GMC IntelliLink with an 8-inch color screen, easy phone pairing, natural voice recognition, and large physical knobs and buttons for common controls. OnStar is also included on nearly all trucks.
• Fuel efficiency: The 5.3-liter V8 4WD is rated at 16 mpg city and 22 highway, and the test truck returned 16.7 mpg in mixed driving. The 4.3-liter V6 is described as more fuel-efficient than the previous generation, but no separate MPG figure is stated here.

Which 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 3 trim levels: standard, SLE, SLT.

Here's the short version:

• standard: This is the entry point, and it makes the Sierra’s redesigned cabin, IntelliLink system, reversing camera, and core work-truck capability accessible at the lowest price. It suits you if you want the basics and plan to keep the truck focused on utility.
• SLE: This is the best-value trim if you want the strongest balance of equipment and price. It builds on the standard truck with the same redesigned interior and available driver-assistance content while giving you a more comfortable everyday experience.
• SLT: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale feel, with the more premium interior presentation and the polished look highlighted in the review. It makes the most sense if comfort and appearance matter as much as capability.

Most models include OnStar and a reversing camera, and the Driver Alert Package adds front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully but not so much that the best trucks linger forever.

• Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,680 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.03% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,412, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $16,412 sits slightly below last year's $17,466.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For a seller, the current market shows that condition and equipment will matter more than simply waiting for appreciation.

Because the model has a solid owner satisfaction rating and a broad buyer base, well-kept examples should continue to attract interest. Trucks with cleaner histories and stronger equipment will likely hold demand better than rougher, higher-risk listings.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The Sierra Crew Cab earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, combined with four-star rollover ratings for both rear-drive and 4-wheel-drive trims.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Most models come standard with OnStar telematics and a reversing camera, and the available Driver Alert Package adds front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat. Side Blind Zone Alert is notably absent, so you should not assume blind-spot coverage is included.

Should I buy a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 brings a redesigned cabin, stronger power, better fuel efficiency, and more advanced technology than the truck it replaces.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $18,822, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $16,412 average.
• It carries forward the smart interior and adds an 8-inch touchscreen.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the stronger buy because it combines a lower average price with the major redesign benefits. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly newer truck and a few extra interior conveniences, the 2015 is the cleaner alternative.

How does the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 compare to the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Our experts score the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 8.2/10 and the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 8.7/10. The Silverado edges ahead overall, but the Sierra still stands out for its more upscale look and polished cabin. Both trucks share the same engine, fuel economy, and much of the underlying capability, so your choice comes down to whether you value the Sierra’s more refined presentation or the Silverado’s slightly stronger expert score and lower average used price.
