How much does the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 5.88% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,705 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a 4.15/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, strong power, and comfortable interior. The review summary also points to a truck that feels well-equipped and capable on highways and while towing. For shoppers who want a full-size pickup that feels more polished than a basic work truck, the Sierra’s redesigned cabin and upgraded road manners fit that use case well.

Only 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards careful comparison shopping.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.15/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights the truck as smooth, powerful, and comfortable, and it also points to a generally dependable feel in everyday use. The expert summary reinforces that this redesign was meant to improve the truck’s overall polish and capability, while the cost-effectiveness discussion notes that previous Sierras were average for reliability and ownership costs. The truck’s smooth-shifting 6-speed automatic and composed highway behavior also support the impression of a well-sorted drivetrain.

That said, some owners have reported mechanical issues and rust problems, so a used example is best approached with a careful inspection and a strong service-history review.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing, off-roading, or heavy work. Pay close attention to body condition, rust, and signs of mechanical wear, since owner feedback specifically mentions those concerns. If you’re shopping a higher-mileage truck, focus on how well the drivetrain, suspension, and interior have held up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra is offered in Regular, Double, and Crew Cab body styles, with standard, SLE, and SLT trim levels. The cabin quality improves as you move up, with soft-touch surfaces, a premium headliner, and genuine aluminum trim in many models, while the SLT adds a more upscale feel.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8, or a 6.2-liter V8, all with direct fuel injection, variable valve timing, and Active Fuel Management. The 6-speed automatic is the only transmission, and 4-wheel drive is optional.
• Safety package: Most models come standard with OnStar telematics and a reversing camera. GMC also offers a Driver Alert Package with front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat. Side Blind Zone Alert is notably absent.
• Infotainment: The truck uses GMC IntelliLink with a color 8-inch screen, easy phone pairing, natural voice recognition, and large icons. It also includes a Home button and physical knobs and buttons for common controls.
• Fuel efficiency: The 5.3-liter V8 4WD is rated at 16 mpg city/22 highway/18 combined, and the test truck returned 16.7 mpg. The 4.3-liter V6 is rated to tow up to 7,200 pounds, while the 6.2-liter V8 is the strongest option for towing and payload.

Which 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 3 trim levels: standard, SLE, SLT.

Here's the short version:

• standard: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the Sierra’s core capability and a lower purchase price. It’s the trim to consider if you care more about work-truck usefulness than upscale features.
• SLE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it balances equipment and price. It gives you a more appealing everyday experience without pushing you into the highest-cost version.
• SLT: Choose this if you want the most upscale cabin feel and the most premium presentation in the lineup. It’s the right pick if comfort and refinement matter more than keeping the budget tight.

For safety equipment, most models include OnStar and a reversing camera, while the Driver Alert Package adds front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,705 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.88% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,525, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $16,533 sits slightly below last year's $17,565.

That decline suggests the truck has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. The current market also shows a meaningful spread between the low and high end of the year-round range, so condition and equipment still matter a lot when it comes time to resell. A well-kept truck with strong owner satisfaction should remain easier to move than one with visible wear or a rough history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.15/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, along with four-star rollover ratings for both rear-drive and 4-wheel-drive trims.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Most models come standard with OnStar telematics and a reversing camera, and OnStar includes Automatic Crash Response, Crisis Assist, and Emergency Services. GMC also offers a Driver Alert Package with front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat that vibrates if you drift out of a lane. A notable shortcoming is the absence of Side Blind Zone Alert.

Should I buy a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.15/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a more powerful, more fuel-efficient, and more technologically sophisticated truck.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $18,842, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $16,533 average.
• It adds a smart interior with an 8-inch touchscreen.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because it delivers the redesigned Sierra’s major improvements at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly newer truck with a more modern-feeling cabin, the 2015 is the better secondary path.
