Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Fusion stands out for the way it drives. A solid chassis, strong brakes, and responsive suspension make it feel and handle like a much lighter car, which gives it a more agile character than its size might suggest. That balance of composure and responsiveness is a major part of its appeal, especially for buyers who want a midsize sedan that feels polished on the road.
It also benefits from being one year removed from a redesign, and it continues to add tech to an already-attractive package. With the standard features of the Hybrid trim, it does a good job of nipping at the heels of more luxury-minded competitors while still remaining a value in the class. That combination of style, available technology, and relative affordability helps make the 2014 Fusion distinctive.
Owners also praise its sleek design, reliability, high fuel economy, and spaciousness, along with features such as remote start and navigation. On the downside, some drivers have found the dashboard controls confusing and wanted more interior refinement, while a few wished for more power and better braking performance.

Its a good little car. Gas milage is great, has a bunch of features that make it comfortable to ride in. This one I have doesnt come with auto start or a heated steering wheel, but its definitely worth it for the value

Enjoy the performance of the cars overall power and handling, but brakes are weak and seems to have a bit too much turbo lag. Would recommend car for someone looking for a nice performance sedan under $25,000. Would like more room in back seat for passengers.

Is the 2014 Ford Fusion a good car?
Yes — the 2014 Ford Fusion earns a 4.71/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its sleek design, reliability, high fuel economy, and spaciousness. The review summary also points to useful features like remote start and navigation, which helps explain why this model appeals to you if you want a stylish midsize sedan with a strong value proposition. The overview reinforces that use case: it’s a polished, tech-friendly sedan that still aims to stay affordable.
Good and great deals make up 26.6% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2014 Ford Fusion reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The review summary specifically calls out reliability, and it also highlights the car’s high fuel economy and the sense that it delivers a dependable ownership experience. The expert drive notes that the Fusion Hybrid’s transitions are quick and seamless, which supports the impression of a car you can count on day to day. It also mentions that Ford addressed earlier complaints, which is reassuring if you’re thinking about long-term use.
If you’re buying used, the main risk is less about the model’s overall reputation and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated hidden wear.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Fusion?
At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on condition details that matter in daily use: controls, interior refinement, braking feel, and whether the tech features still work as intended. If you’re considering a hybrid, pay extra attention to how smoothly it drives and whether the fuel-saving systems behave normally.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Titanium trim sits above the SE and the new-for-2014 S trim, and it adds a more upscale equipment mix. The test car also had optional active park assist, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control, navigation, inflatable rear seatbelts, and the Driver Assistance Package with lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert.
- Powertrain: The Fusion Hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, using a CVT. It delivers 188 hp and 130 lb-ft, with electric-only operation up to 85 mph.
- Safety package: The car includes blind-spot alert, adaptive cruise control, lane keep, traction and stability control, inflatable rear seatbelts, SOS Post Crash, and 911 Assist. The Driver Assistance Package adds lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert.

Which 2014 Ford Fusion trim should I buy?
The 2014 Ford Fusion is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Fusion’s styling and core driving character at the lowest cost. It’s the trim most likely to leave you wanting more equipment if you care about the richer tech and comfort features highlighted in the higher trims.
- SE: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it sits in the middle and should give you a better balance of equipment and price than the base trim. If you want a sensible used buy without stretching to the top trim, this is the one to focus on.
- Titanium: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale Fusion experience, with the richest feature content and the strongest tech presentation. It’s the right pick if you value comfort and convenience features more than keeping the purchase price as low as possible.
The safety content points to a very well-equipped car overall, with features like blind-spot alert, adaptive cruise control, lane keep, inflatable rear seatbelts, SOS Post Crash, and 911 Assist available in the mix.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Fusion?
The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.
- Deal availability: 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 924 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.30% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,582, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Ford Fusion's resale value?
The current average of $7,662 sits slightly below last year's $8,006.
That tells you the market has softened, which can work in your favor as a buyer but usually means a seller has less pricing power than before. If you’re planning to resell later, the current trend suggests you should buy carefully and avoid overpaying up front, because that gives you the best chance of preserving value. The model’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, but the recent price decline still matters if you’re thinking about future trade-in value.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Ford Fusion safe?
The 2014 Ford Fusion earns five-star overall ratings from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and three-star ratings in side crash for the front seat. It also earns Good ratings from IIHS in all tests.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The safety equipment list is extensive, including eight airbags, inflatable rear seatbelts, traction and stability control, blind-spot alert, 4-wheel disc brakes, adaptive cruise control, lane keep, SOS Post Crash, and 911 Assist. The Driver Assistance Package adds lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert. The main caveat is that the NHTSA side-crash result for the front seat is weaker than the rest of the car’s crash-test performance.
Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.30% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Now 1 year off a 2013 redesign, the Fusion continues to add tech to an already-attractive package.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $8,516, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $7,662 average.
- It remains an excellent choice with few exceptions, though it brings mediocre real-world gas mileage and some safety-report-card downgrades.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the stronger starting point because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for the next model year, the 2015 is still appealing, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2014 and shop carefully for a clean, well-kept example.
