CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Ford Fusion
overall

Summary
With 922 currently listed for sale and an average price of $7,672, 26.0% of 2014 Ford Fusion listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Ford Fusion 4.71 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.
55.6% of 2014 Ford Fusion listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Fusion stands out for the way it drives and the way it presents itself. A solid chassis, strong brakes, and responsive suspension help it feel and handle like a much lighter car, which gives it a more agile character than many buyers might expect from a midsize sedan. It also benefits from being just one year removed from a redesign, so it arrives with a fresh, modern feel rather than an older, dated one.
That sense of polish extends to its equipment and overall appeal. The Fusion continues to add tech to an already-attractive package, and with the standard features of the Hybrid trim, it does a good job of edging toward more luxury-minded competitors while still remaining a value in the class. Owners also praise its sleek design, reliability, high fuel economy, and spaciousness, though some note that the dashboard controls can be confusing and that the interior could use more refinement.

Its a good little car. Gas milage is great, has a bunch of features that make it comfortable to ride in. This one I have doesnt come with auto start or a heated steering wheel, but its definitely worth it for the value

Enjoy the performance of the cars overall power and handling, but brakes are weak and seems to have a bit too much turbo lag. Would recommend car for someone looking for a nice performance sedan under $25,000. Would like more room in back seat for passengers.

Is the 2014 Ford Fusion reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback highlights reliability, and it also points to a car that many drivers feel good about keeping for the long haul. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by describing the Fusion as a value-oriented sedan with a polished overall package and strong efficiency-minded engineering. The cost-effectiveness discussion also notes that the model has held its value quite well overall in the used market.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic dependability and more about finding a well-kept example with the right maintenance history and condition.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Fusion?
At 56% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because the listing pool includes a sizable number of cars with accident history, condition matters more than usual. It also makes sense to focus on how the car drives and whether the equipment works as expected, especially on higher-trim examples with more technology.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Titanium trim sits above the SE and the new-for-2014 S trim, and it brings the most upscale presentation in the test-drive description. The content also shows that the Hybrid version adds more tech, while the Titanium example was loaded with options such as active park assist, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control, navigation, inflatable rear seatbelts, and the Driver Assistance Package. If you want the most feature-rich version, that higher-spec setup is the one to target.
- Powertrain: The Fusion Hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, sending power through a CVT. The setup is described as quick to respond in electric operation, with seamless transitions and better electric-only capability than the earlier battery setup.
- Safety package: The car includes blind-spot alert, lane keep, adaptive cruise control, traction and stability control, inflatable rear seatbelts, SOS Post Crash, and 911 Assist. The Driver Assistance Package adds lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert, so you should confirm whether those features are present on the specific car you’re considering.
- Infotainment: The test vehicle had a touchscreen, navigation, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. The system is easy enough to use in some respects, but the content also notes that the touchscreen attracts fingerprints and that the Sync interface can be unnecessarily complex.
- Fuel efficiency: The Fusion Hybrid is rated at 44 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 42 mpg combined after the software update described in the performance notes.
Which 2014 Ford Fusion trim should I buy?
The 2014 Ford Fusion is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if your priority is keeping purchase price down and you mainly want the Fusion’s styling and core sedan basics.
- SE: This is the trim most buyers should start with because it should give you a better balance of equipment and value than the base model without pushing you into the highest-priced version.
- Titanium: This is the best choice if you want the most upscale Fusion experience, especially with the richer feature content shown in the test vehicle and the strongest luxury-leaning feel.
The safety content highlights a broad set of available driver-assistance and crash-avoidance features, so check carefully which ones are standard on the specific trim you’re shopping.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Fusion?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 904 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.83% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 56.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,572, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Ford Fusion's resale value?
The current average of $7,674 sits slightly below last year's $7,979.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the good news is that the model’s strong owner satisfaction and value-oriented reputation can help support demand. The Fusion’s combination of style, efficiency, and broad appeal should keep it relevant with shoppers who want a midsize sedan that feels more upscale than average.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Ford Fusion safe?
The 2014 Ford Fusion earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and three-star ratings in front-seat side crash tests. It also earns Good ratings from IIHS in all tests.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The Fusion’s safety equipment is extensive, including eight airbags, inflatable rear seatbelts, traction and stability control, blind-spot alert, 4-wheel disc brakes, adaptive cruise control, lane keep, SOS Post Crash, and 911 Assist. The Driver Assistance Package adds lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert, so you should verify whether those features are included on the specific car you’re considering.
The main caveat is the weaker NHTSA side-crash result for front-seat occupants, so a careful inspection and a close look at the exact safety equipment on the listing are worthwhile.
Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 56% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.83% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Now 1 year off a 2013 redesign, the Fusion adds tech to an already-attractive package.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $8,228, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $7,674 average.
- It looks far from ordinary and feels more distinctive than the typical midsize sedan.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because prices have softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly newer model, the 2015 is worth a look for shoppers who prioritize styling and can stretch their budget.
