CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Ford Fusion
overall

Summary
With 945 currently listed for sale and an average price of $7,681, 24.1% of 2014 Ford Fusions for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Ford Fusion 4.71 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.
58.1% of 2014 Fusion models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Fusion stands out for the way it drives. A solid chassis, strong brakes, and responsive suspension make it feel and handle like a much lighter car, which gives it a more agile character than its size might suggest. That balance of composure and responsiveness is a major part of its appeal, especially for buyers who want a midsize sedan that feels polished on the road.
It also benefits from being one year removed from a redesign, and it continues to add tech to an already-attractive package. With the standard features of the Hybrid trim, it does a good job of nipping at the heels of more luxury-minded competitors while still remaining a value in the class. That combination of style, available technology, and relative affordability helps make the 2014 Fusion distinctive.
Owners also praise its sleek design, reliability, high fuel economy, and spaciousness, along with features such as remote start and navigation. On the downside, some drivers have found the dashboard controls confusing and wanted more interior refinement, while a few wished for more power and better braking performance.

Its a good little car. Gas milage is great, has a bunch of features that make it comfortable to ride in. This one I have doesnt come with auto start or a heated steering wheel, but its definitely worth it for the value

Enjoy the performance of the cars overall power and handling, but brakes are weak and seems to have a bit too much turbo lag. Would recommend car for someone looking for a nice performance sedan under $25,000. Would like more room in back seat for passengers.

At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, alignment, and any signs of prior repair. Because the model has a mix of tech, safety equipment, and hybrid-specific hardware in some versions, it’s smart to confirm that everything works as advertised before you buy. Pay close attention to interior controls and overall cabin condition, since some owners wanted more refinement there.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Titanium trim sits above the SE and the new-for-2014 S trim, and it adds a more upscale feel with features such as active park assist, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control, navigation, inflatable rear seatbelts, and the Driver Assistance Package. If you want the most equipment, this is the trim that best shows what the Fusion can do.
- Powertrain: The Fusion Hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, sending power through a CVT. The setup emphasizes smooth, immediate response and strong efficiency rather than outright speed.
- Safety package: The Driver Assistance Package includes lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert. Standard safety equipment also includes eight airbags, inflatable rear seatbelts, traction and stability control, adaptive cruise control, lane keep, SOS Post Crash, and 911 Assist.
- Infotainment: The Titanium trim includes a touchscreen interface, navigation, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. The system is feature-rich, but the controls can feel complex and the touchscreen can be fingerprint-prone.
- Fuel efficiency: The Fusion Hybrid was rated at 44 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 42 mpg combined after the software update, and the hybrid system can run on electric power at up to 85 mph.
Which 2014 Ford Fusion trim should I buy?
The 2014 Ford Fusion is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Fusion’s styling and core driving character at the lowest possible price. It’s the trim to target if value matters most and you’re willing to give up the richer equipment found higher up.
- SE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it should give you a better balance of equipment and price than the base model. If you want a sensible middle ground, this is the one to focus on first.
- Titanium: This is the trim to buy if you want the most upscale Fusion experience, with the richest tech and comfort content. It suits you best if you care about features like navigation, advanced driver aids, and a more premium cabin feel.
The safety package note to keep in mind is that the Driver Assistance Package adds lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Fusion?
This looks like a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 942 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.04% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,582, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Ford Fusion's resale value?
The current average of $7,702 sits slightly below last year's $8,027.
That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean slower appreciation if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that pricing discipline matters: if you buy well, you’ll have a better chance of protecting your value later. The Fusion’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Ford Fusion safe?
The 2014 Ford Fusion earns five-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and three-star ratings in front-seat side crash tests. It also earns Good ratings from IIHS.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The Fusion includes a long list of safety equipment, including eight airbags, inflatable rear seatbelts, traction and stability control, blind-spot alert, 4-wheel disc brakes, adaptive cruise control, and lane keep. SOS Post Crash and 911 Assist add extra peace of mind after an accident.
One caveat is that the NHTSA side-impact result for front-seat occupants is weaker than the rest of the safety record, so you should weigh that carefully if crash protection is a top priority.
Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.04% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It offers a polished ride, strong tech, and a value-oriented hybrid setup.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $8,496, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $7,702 average.
- It adds a more distinctive, appealing design and is described as an excellent choice with few exceptions.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because prices are softer and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year with a slightly more refined overall presentation, the 2015 is worth a look. For most used-car shoppers, the 2014 is the more compelling buy unless the 2015’s extra cost is easy to justify.
