How much does the 2014 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 6.19% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,811 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2014 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Ford Explorer earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners repeatedly praise its comfort, space, and performance, and they also like its stylish design and value for money. That makes it a good fit if you want a roomy midsize SUV with family-friendly appeal and useful everyday versatility. With 29.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful number of opportunities to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience for many shoppers, with comfort, space, and performance showing up as recurring positives. At the same time, some owners mention maintenance costs and issues with specific high-mileage models, so a careful pre-purchase inspection matters.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that upkeep can become more expensive if the vehicle has been neglected or driven hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Explorer?

At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, alignment, and signs of uneven wear, since those can reveal past accident or repair issues. You should also focus on overall maintenance history and how the SUV has been used, especially if you plan to keep it for the long haul.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Explorer?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,811 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.19% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,323, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $9,332 sits slightly below last year's $9,948.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. If you plan to resell later, the current trend means your future value will depend heavily on how well you preserve condition and maintenance records. A well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers looking for a comfortable, spacious SUV at a reasonable price.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2014 is the better path if you want a well-liked, comfort-focused Explorer with a softer market price and enough inventory to shop carefully. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can use the current market softness to target the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than stretching for a newer year.
