The owner summary points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable in day-to-day family use, with praise centered on spaciousness, features, and good gas mileage. The expert summary also notes that you can save thousands off sticker price, which helps offset average predicted reliability and cost-of-ownership ratings.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Chevrolet Traverse?

At 59.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a prior accident record. Focus on overall condition, signs of uneven wear, and whether the vehicle has been maintained consistently, since those details matter more when you’re shopping a family crossover at this price point.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS is the most basic version, while the 1LT adds aluminum wheels, foglights, remote engine start, rear parking assist sensors, a front-center airbag, and upgraded trim inside and out. The 2LT adds triple-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, second-row captain’s chairs, a universal garage door opener, auto-dimming mirrors, a power rear liftgate, Chevrolet MyLink, and a Bose premium audio system. The LTZ adds leather seats, ventilated front seats, memory settings, an 8-way power front passenger seat, a heated steering wheel, blind-zone alert, lane-departure warning, forward collision warning, chrome trim, and 20-inch wheels.
• Powertrain: A 3.6-liter V6 is standard, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive is optional. The setup is described as strong enough to move the Traverse confidently even when loaded, and it can tow up to 5,200 pounds.
• Safety package: OnStar is standard, along with a reversing camera and automatic crash response, crisis assist, and emergency services. Rear parking assist sensors come with the 1LT and 2LT, while forward collision alert and lane-departure warning are standard on the LTZ and optional on the 2LT. Side blind-zone alert is standard only on the LTZ.
• Infotainment: Chevrolet MyLink uses a 6.5-inch color touchscreen and includes Bluetooth streaming audio, Internet radio access, phonebook and music-library access, and customizable home-page icons. Wireless smartphone connectivity is not mentioned, and navigation is an extra-cost feature.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review notes an average of 17.8 mpg in mixed driving for an AWD test vehicle, and the overview describes the Traverse as more fuel-efficient than a traditional full-size SUV.

Which 2014 Chevrolet Traverse trim should I buy?

The 2014 Chevrolet Traverse is offered in 4 trim levels: LS, 1LT, 2LT, LTZ.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the value entry point if you want the Traverse’s space and V6 power at the lowest price. It gives you the core family-hauler formula, but it skips some of the convenience and safety upgrades found higher up the range.
• 1LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a useful mix of comfort and safety upgrades, including foglights, remote start, rear parking assist sensors, and a front-center airbag. If you want a smarter balance of price and equipment, this is the trim to target first.
• 2LT: Choose this if you want a more comfort-focused setup, especially with triple-zone climate control, heated front seats, second-row captain’s chairs, a power liftgate, MyLink, and the Bose audio system. It’s the better pick if you regularly carry passengers and want more convenience features.
• LTZ: This is the most fully equipped version, with leather, ventilated front seats, memory settings, a heated steering wheel, and the most advanced safety content in the lineup. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Traverse experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is strongest on the LTZ, where blind-zone alert, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning are standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Chevrolet Traverse?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 778 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.83% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $7,372, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $7,466 sits slightly below last year's $8,189.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry price today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and trim than to broad market momentum alone.

Because the Traverse is still drawing interest from family buyers, a clean history and strong maintenance record should help it hold demand better than a neglected example. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse safe?

The 2014 Chevrolet Traverse earns five-star ratings for every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, for which it rates four stars. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it its highest rating of Good in nearly every test, along with a Basic front crash prevention rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes a reversing camera and OnStar with automatic crash response, crisis assist, and emergency services. Rear parking assist sensors come with the 1LT and 2LT, while forward collision alert and lane-departure warning are standard on the LTZ and optional on the 2LT. Side blind-zone alert is standard only on the LTZ.

Should I buy a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for its roomy family-crossover packaging, strong safety reputation, and value-oriented pricing.

The bottom line: If you want a spacious three-row crossover with strong safety credentials and a lower entry price, the 2014 is a sensible target. If you’re shopping primarily on price, you can still find attractive deals in this market, but you should be selective about accident history and maintenance records before buying.
