Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Buick LaCrosse earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the comfort, spaciousness, and smooth ride, and they also like the upscale interior and safety features. That lines up with the LaCrosse’s use case as a quiet, polished large sedan with a premium atmosphere rather than a sporty personality. With 30.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still room to shop carefully and find value.

Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners’ feedback points to comfort, spaciousness, and a smooth ride, and the summary also highlights the upscale interior and safety features. The broader ownership picture suggests a car you can count on for a relaxed, premium-feeling daily drive, though some buyers do flag price concerns on higher-mileage examples. Buick also backs the car with a 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and 6 years or 70,000 miles of powertrain coverage.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is choosing a higher-mileage example without a careful inspection and service-history review.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Buick LaCrosse?

At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or a price that seems unusually low. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment and safety features work as expected. Because this model was offered with different powertrains and equipment levels, it also pays to confirm that the car you’re considering matches the features you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim includes dual-zone climate control, remote start, 17-inch alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth streaming audio and iPod compatibility. The Leather trim adds a rear-view camera, push-button start, heated power-adjustable front seats with memory settings for 2 drivers, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, rear parking sensors, and leather upholstery. Premium I adds an 11-speaker Bose Surround Sound system, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power rear sunshade. Premium II adds 20-inch alloy wheels and navigation. The Leather trim is the best-value choice if you want the V6 and more comfort features without moving all the way up the range.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is the eAssist powertrain with a direct-injected 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, a 15kW lithium-ion battery, an electric motor, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. It makes 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque and is rated at 25 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. The available 3.6-liter V6 makes 304 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque and is rated at 18 mpg city/28 highway/21 combined in FWD form or 17/26/20 with AWD. The V6 delivers smooth, predictable power, while the eAssist setup is the efficiency play.
• Safety package: The available Driver Confidence Package 1 bundles adaptive HID headlights, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor. It also includes a head-up display. Driver Confidence Package 2 adds intelligent cruise control, automatic collision preparation, and a Safety Alert seat. Package 2 is available on Premium I and II models.
• Infotainment: The LaCrosse uses an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth streaming audio and iPod compatibility on the base trim. The IntelliLink system adds an 8-inch touchscreen display with customizable icons, Pandora Internet radio access, Bluetooth calling, steering-wheel-mounted controls, and enhanced voice-recognition software. A new gauge-cluster screen can show fuel economy, tire pressure, maps for the optional navigation system, and safety alerts.
• Fuel efficiency: The eAssist powertrain is rated at 25 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. The V6 is rated at 18 mpg city/28 highway/21 combined in FWD form and 17/26/20 with AWD.

Which 2014 Buick LaCrosse trim should I buy?

The 2014 Buick LaCrosse is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Leather, Premium I, Premium II.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the efficiency-focused entry point, and it gives you the eAssist powertrain plus the core comfort and tech features. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and don’t need the V6 or extra luxury equipment.
• Leather: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the rear-view camera, push-button start, heated power front seats, rear parking sensors, and leather upholstery. It also opens the door to the V6 and AWD, which makes it the sweet spot if you want a more upscale feel without jumping to the top trims.
• Premium I: This trim adds the 11-speaker Bose system, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power rear sunshade. It suits you if comfort and cabin amenities matter more than keeping the purchase price down.
• Premium II: This is the top trim, and it adds 20-inch alloy wheels and navigation. Choose it if you want the most fully equipped version and are willing to pay for it.

Driver Confidence Package 1 and Driver Confidence Package 2 add important safety tech, and Package 2 is available on Premium I and II models.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable rather than sharply weakening. For a future seller, that usually means you’re not looking at a dramatic value drop in the near term, especially if your car is well maintained and presents cleanly. Condition, mileage, and equipment will matter more than trying to time a big price swing.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Buick LaCrosse or consider a different year?

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The updated 2014 LaCrosse brings contemporary styling, ultra-premium-grade refinement and materials, and leading safety and convenience technologies.

The bottom line: If you want a refined large sedan with a premium feel, steady pricing, and strong owner satisfaction, the 2014 is a solid year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep shopping carefully for the cleanest, best-priced example rather than stretching for a higher-mileage car with a questionable history.
