Why it stands out
The 2014 Buick LaCrosse stands out for its composed road manners and upscale feel. It remains composed when tackling sweeping turns, and its steering has a pleasant weightiness at higher speeds, giving the car a more confident character than many buyers might expect from a large sedan.
It is also notable for how far Buick had moved in this model year, with contemporary styling, ultra-premium-grade refinement and materials, and integration of leading safety and convenience technologies. That combination makes the 2014 LaCrosse appealing to shoppers who want a comfortable, polished sedan with a more premium presentation. Owners also commonly praise its comfort, spaciousness, smooth ride, upscale interior, and safety features, though some feel it is overpriced, especially with higher-mileage examples.

I thought the car was beautiful and ran smooth , clean. Just a few nicks here and there but a beautiful car. An added feature was the blinds installed to protect you from the sun’s harmful rays in The back seat. The car is clean , pretty color, rich looking.

How much does the 2014 Buick LaCrosse cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $10,764 |
| Year-Round Low | $10,480.44 |
| Year-Round High | $11,512.31 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $11,240 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −4.24% |
Prices have softened 4.24% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 275 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $10,480.44, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse a good car?
Yes — 4.5/5 owners rate it, which is a strong sign that you can expect broad owner satisfaction. The expert rating is 7.83/10, and the standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise the comfort, spaciousness, smooth ride, upscale interior, and safety features. That lines up well with the LaCrosse’s role as a comfortable, polished sedan with a more premium presentation, especially if you want a large car that feels composed and refined rather than sporty.
The main tradeoff is that some owners feel it is overpriced, especially on higher-mileage examples, and some mention missing technology like Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay. Even so, the combination of comfort and upscale feel makes it a strong fit if you value a relaxed daily driver with a premium vibe.
24.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owners also describe it as comfortable, spacious, smooth-riding, and safety-focused, which tends to go hand in hand with a car people feel good about keeping for the long haul. The expert notes add that Buick’s approach here emphasizes contemporary refinement and a premium presentation, which supports the sense that the car is built to be a dependable everyday cruiser.
On the caution side, the cost-effectiveness notes point to mixed reliability expectations depending on powertrain, with stronger confidence in some setups than others. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is more about choosing the right example and maintaining it well than about the model’s overall appeal.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Buick LaCrosse?
At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or a price that looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment and safety features work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base trim includes dual-zone climate control, remote start, 17-inch alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth streaming audio and iPod compatibility. The Leather trim adds a rear-view camera, push-button start, heated power-adjustable front seats with memory settings for 2 drivers, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, rear parking sensors, and leather upholstery, while AWD versions also get 19-inch alloy wheels. Premium I adds an 11-speaker Bose Surround Sound system, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power rear sunshade, and an upgraded suspension, and Premium II adds 20-inch alloy wheels and navigation.
- Powertrain: The standard setup is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder eAssist hybrid with a 6-speed automatic, while AWD models use a 3.6-liter V6. The eAssist setup is the efficiency play, and the V6 brings stronger output but lower fuel economy.
- Safety package: Driver Confidence Package 1 adds adaptive HID headlights, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor, plus a head-up display. Driver Confidence Package 2 adds intelligent cruise control, automatic collision preparation, and a Safety Alert seat. Package availability varies by trim, so verify what is actually installed on the car you’re considering.
- Infotainment: The LaCrosse uses an 8-inch touchscreen with IntelliLink, Bluetooth, Pandora access, steering-wheel controls, and enhanced voice recognition. The gauge cluster screen can also show fuel economy, tire pressure, maps for the optional navigation system, and safety alerts.
- Fuel efficiency: The eAssist setup is rated at 25 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. The V6 is rated at 18 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined in FWD form, or 17 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined with AWD.
Which 2014 Buick LaCrosse trim should I buy?
The 2014 Buick LaCrosse is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Leather, Premium I, Premium II.
Here's the short version:
- base: This is the value entry point if you want the LaCrosse’s comfort, refinement, and standard tech without paying for extras. It gives you the core upscale experience and the eAssist powertrain, so it makes sense if efficiency and a lower purchase price matter most.
- Leather: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the rear-view camera, push-button start, heated power front seats with memory, rear parking sensors, and leather upholstery. It also opens the door to the V6 and AWD, so it’s the trim to target if you want a more complete luxury feel without jumping too far up the price ladder.
- Premium I: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin and more comfort features, including the Bose audio system, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power rear sunshade. It’s the right step up if you spend a lot of time behind the wheel and want the richer equipment mix.
- Premium II: This is the top-end choice if you want navigation and the largest wheel setup, but it makes the most sense only if those extras matter to you specifically.
Driver Confidence Package 1 and Driver Confidence Package 2 are the key safety-package upgrades to look for, and their availability depends on trim.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Buick LaCrosse?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 24.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 275 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.24% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 61.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $10,480.44, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse's resale value?
The current average of $10,764 sits slightly below last year's $11,240.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the chance of taking a bigger hit later.
The softer trend also means condition matters more than ever. A clean, well-kept example should hold up better than a higher-mileage car with visible wear or a questionable history.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse safe?
The LaCrosse earned an overall rating of 5 stars from NHTSA, and the similar 2013 model was named a Top Safety Pick by IIHS.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes 8 airbags, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with brake assist, electronic stability control, and OnStar with emergency response services and roadside assistance. Driver Confidence Package 1 adds adaptive HID headlights, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor, along with a head-up display. Driver Confidence Package 2 adds intelligent cruise control, automatic collision preparation, and a Safety Alert seat.
If you’re shopping a used example, make sure the safety packages are actually present on the car you’re considering, since they vary by trim and option package.
Should I buy a 2014 Buick LaCrosse or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 24.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.24% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2014 model year stands out for its contemporary styling, ultra-premium-grade refinement and materials, and integration of leading safety and convenience technologies.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest blend of comfort, refinement, and value in this generation, the 2014 is a sensible place to focus. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep shopping carefully for a clean, well-equipped example and compare it against nearby years only when the equipment and condition clearly justify the difference.
