Why it stands out
The 2014 Buick LaCrosse stands out for its composed road manners and upscale feel. It remains composed when tackling sweeping turns, and its steering has a pleasant weightiness at higher speeds. Those traits give it a more settled, confident character than many buyers expect from a large sedan, especially one aimed at comfort.
It is also notable for the way Buick positioned the updated 2014 LaCrosse around refinement and modern features. The car is described as having contemporary styling, ultra-premium-grade refinement and materials, and integration of leading safety and convenience technologies. That combination makes it appealing to shoppers who want a quiet, polished sedan with a premium atmosphere rather than a sporty personality.
Owner feedback generally reinforces that appeal, with praise for comfort, spaciousness, and a smooth ride, along with the upscale interior and safety features. Some owners do note concerns about price, especially on higher-mileage examples, and mention missing technology such as Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay.

I thought the car was beautiful and ran smooth , clean. Just a few nicks here and there but a beautiful car. An added feature was the blinds installed to protect you from the sun’s harmful rays in The back seat. The car is clean , pretty color, rich looking.

Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse a good car?
Yes — the 2014 Buick LaCrosse earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise the comfort, spaciousness, and smooth ride, along with the upscale interior and safety features. That lines up with the LaCrosse’s use case as a quiet, polished large sedan with a premium atmosphere rather than a sporty personality. The market also shows 25.1% of listings as good or great deals, which supports its appeal if you’re shopping carefully.
Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to comfort, spaciousness, and a smooth ride, and it also reflects confidence in the car’s upscale feel and safety features. The expert evaluation adds that the LaCrosse delivers composed road manners and a settled, confident character, while the cost-effectiveness notes say J.D. Power rates it above-average for reliability. Buick also backs it with a 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and 6-year/70,000-mile powertrain coverage.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that reliability perceptions vary by powertrain, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Buick LaCrosse?
At 60.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage examples. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven wear, and any evidence that comfort, electronics, or safety equipment have been compromised. Because owners also mention missing technology on some cars, it’s worth checking the exact equipment list before you commit.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base trim includes dual-zone climate control, remote start, 17-inch alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth streaming audio and iPod compatibility. The Leather trim adds leather upholstery, a rear-view camera, push-button start, heated power-adjustable front seats with memory settings for 2 drivers, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, rear parking sensors, and available AWD with 19-inch alloy wheels. Premium I adds an 11-speaker Bose Surround Sound system, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power rear sunshade, and an upgraded suspension on FWD models. Premium II adds 20-inch alloy wheels and navigation.
- Powertrain: The standard setup is the eAssist hybrid powertrain with a direct-injected 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, a 15kW lithium-ion battery, an electric motor, and a 6-speed automatic. It makes 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque and is rated at 25 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. The available 3.6-liter V6 makes 304 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque and is rated at 18 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined in FWD form, or 17 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined with AWD.
- Safety package: The Driver Confidence Package 1 adds adaptive HID headlights, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor, plus a head-up display. Driver Confidence Package 2 adds intelligent cruise control, automatic collision preparation, and a Safety Alert seat. Package availability varies by trim.
- Infotainment: The LaCrosse uses an 8-inch touchscreen with crisp detail and customizable icons. It supports Bluetooth streaming audio, iPod compatibility, Pandora Internet radio through an app, Bluetooth calling, steering-wheel controls, and enhanced voice recognition. A navigation system is available on Premium II.
- Fuel efficiency: The eAssist setup is rated at 25 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. The V6 is rated at 18 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined in FWD form, or 17 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined with AWD.
Which 2014 Buick LaCrosse trim should I buy?
The 2014 Buick LaCrosse is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Leather, Premium I, Premium II.
Here's the short version:
- base: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and are comfortable with the standard eAssist setup. You still get dual-zone climate control, remote start, an 8-inch touchscreen, and Bluetooth streaming audio, so it covers the essentials well.
- Leather: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a rear-view camera, push-button start, heated power front seats with memory, rear parking sensors, and leather upholstery. It also opens the door to the V6 and AWD, which makes it the most flexible step up.
- Premium I: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin and stronger comfort features, including the Bose audio system, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power rear sunshade. It also brings the available Driver Confidence Package 2.
- Premium II: This is the top choice if you want the most complete equipment list, including 20-inch alloy wheels and navigation. It suits you best if you want the most premium-feeling LaCrosse and don’t mind paying for it.
The safety packages are a meaningful part of the trim story, so if advanced driver-assistance features matter to you, make sure the specific car you’re considering has the right package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Buick LaCrosse?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, but the better listings can still move quickly.
- Deal availability: 25.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 295 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.03% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 60.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $10,481, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse's resale value?
The current average of $10,859 sits slightly below last year's $11,198.
That tells you the market has softened, which can work in your favor as a buyer but usually means a seller has less pricing power than before. If you’re planning to resell later, the current trend suggests you should expect a more competitive market unless your car is especially clean, well maintained, and well equipped. Strong condition and desirable equipment matter more when prices are drifting down.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse safe?
The 2014 Buick LaCrosse earns an overall rating of 5 stars from NHTSA.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The LaCrosse comes standard with 8 airbags, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with brake assist, electronic stability control, and OnStar telematics with emergency response services and roadside assistance. Driver Confidence Package 1 adds adaptive HID headlights, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor, while Driver Confidence Package 2 adds intelligent cruise control, automatic collision preparation, and a Safety Alert seat. If you want the most advanced safety setup, you’ll want to verify that the car has the right package, since those features are not standard on every trim.
Should I buy a 2014 Buick LaCrosse or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 25.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 60.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.03% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The updated 2014 LaCrosse brings contemporary styling, ultra-premium-grade refinement and materials, and leading safety and convenience technologies.
The bottom line: The 2014 LaCrosse makes sense if you want a comfortable, upscale large sedan with a softer price than it had a year ago and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the current market gives you enough inventory to compare, but the cleanest, best-equipped examples are the ones most worth prioritizing.
