Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Buick LaCrosse earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the comfort, spaciousness, and smooth ride, along with the upscale interior and safety features. That lines up well with the LaCrosse’s role as a refined, comfortable sedan rather than a sporty one, and it makes sense if you want a polished daily driver with a premium feel. The market also shows 28.2% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels comfortable, spacious, and smooth, with an upscale cabin that many drivers seem happy to live with over time. The reliability-related language in the expert notes also points to above-average reliability, which supports the idea that this is a car you can count on if it has been maintained well. Buick’s warranty coverage was also relatively generous for the class, which adds some reassurance for ownership.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that condition and maintenance history matter a lot, especially on higher-mileage examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Buick LaCrosse?

At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or a price that seems unusually low. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven wear, and whether the car’s equipment and safety features are functioning as expected. Because some owners mention missing technology and some examples may have had more use than others, condition should matter as much as trim level.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim includes dual-zone climate control, remote start, 17-inch alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth streaming audio and iPod compatibility. The Leather trim adds a rear-view camera, push-button start, heated power-adjustable front seats with memory settings for 2 drivers, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, rear parking sensors, and leather upholstery, while AWD versions also get 19-inch alloy wheels. Premium I adds an 11-speaker Bose Surround Sound system, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power rear sunshade, and an upgraded suspension on FWD models. Premium II adds 20-inch alloy wheels and navigation.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder eAssist system with a 6-speed automatic, while AWD models use a 3.6-liter V6. The eAssist setup is tuned for efficiency, and the V6 brings stronger output and smoother passing power.
• Safety package: The available Driver Confidence Package 1 adds adaptive HID headlights, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor. Driver Confidence Package 2 adds intelligent cruise control, automatic collision preparation, and a Safety Alert seat. Some of the more advanced safety content is tied to higher trims or optional packages.
• Infotainment: The car uses an 8-inch touchscreen with IntelliLink, Bluetooth, Pandora access, steering-wheel controls, and enhanced voice recognition. The gauge cluster screen can also show fuel economy, tire pressure, maps for the optional navigation system, and safety alerts.
• Fuel efficiency: The eAssist model is rated at 25 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. The V6 is rated at 18 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined in FWD form, or 17 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined with AWD.

Which 2014 Buick LaCrosse trim should I buy?

The 2014 Buick LaCrosse is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Leather, Premium I, Premium II.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the value starting point if you want the LaCrosse’s comfort-first character, standard eAssist efficiency, and core convenience features without stretching the budget. It makes the most sense if you care more about a refined daily driver than extra luxury equipment.
• Leather: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the rear-view camera, heated power front seats, memory settings, rear parking sensors, and leather upholstery. If you want the most meaningful upgrade in everyday comfort and convenience, this is the trim to target.
• Premium I: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale cabin and stronger feature content, including the Bose audio system, heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, and power rear sunshade. It also opens the door to more advanced safety equipment through an available package.
• Premium II: Choose this if you want the most fully equipped version, with navigation and 20-inch wheels on top of the Premium I-style luxury focus. It is the top choice if you want the richest feature set and are willing to pay for it.

The safety packages are worth considering on Leather and above, especially if you want the advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Buick LaCrosse?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop, but the better listings can still move quickly.

• Deal availability: 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 280 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.88% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,490, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse's resale value?

The current average of $10,876 sits slightly below last year's $11,198.

That tells you the market has softened, which can be good news if you are buying now but less helpful if you plan to sell soon. A lower current average price usually means future resale upside is more limited unless the car is especially clean, well equipped, and documented. If you buy carefully and keep mileage and condition in check, you can help protect value better than the average listing.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 8 airbags, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with brake assist, electronic stability control, and OnStar with emergency response services and roadside assistance. If you want more advanced driver assistance, the available Driver Confidence Package 1 adds adaptive HID headlights, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor. Driver Confidence Package 2 adds intelligent cruise control, automatic collision preparation, and a Safety Alert seat.

Should I buy a 2014 Buick LaCrosse or consider a different year?

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The updated 2014 model brings contemporary styling, ultra-premium-grade refinement and materials, and leading safety and convenience technologies.

The bottom line: If you want the most polished version of this generation’s comfort-first formula, the 2014 is a solid place to shop, especially if you value refinement, safety content, and a softer market. If you are especially price-sensitive, focus on the cleanest well-kept listings and be willing to compare against nearby model years for the best combination of condition and value.
