Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Buick LaCrosse earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the comfort, spaciousness, and smooth ride, and they also like the upscale interior and safety features. That lines up with Buick’s positioning of this sedan as a refined, modern choice with a premium atmosphere rather than a sporty one. For you, that means the LaCrosse makes the most sense if you want a calm, comfortable large sedan with a polished feel.

Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse reliable?

Buick also backs the car with a 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and 6-year/70,000-mile powertrain coverage, which helps reduce early ownership risk. For used buyers, the biggest long-term concern is choosing the right engine and condition, since higher-mileage examples and V6 models can be more expensive to own.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Buick LaCrosse?

At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment level matches the trim you want, since the LaCrosse was sold with a wide spread of features. If you’re shopping for value, compare condition carefully against price because some owners feel the car is overpriced when mileage climbs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim includes dual-zone climate control, remote start, 17-inch alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth streaming audio and iPod compatibility. The Leather trim adds a rear-view camera, push-button start, heated power-adjustable front seats with memory settings for 2 drivers, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, rear parking sensors, and leather upholstery. Premium I adds an 11-speaker Bose Surround Sound system, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power rear sunshade, while Premium II adds 20-inch alloy wheels and navigation.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder eAssist hybrid with a 6-speed automatic, rated at 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. A 3.6-liter V6 is available with 304 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque, and it is offered in FWD or AWD form depending on trim.
• Safety package: Driver Confidence Package 1 adds adaptive HID headlights, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor. Driver Confidence Package 2 adds intelligent cruise control, automatic collision preparation, and a Safety Alert seat. Package 1 is optional, and Package 2 is available on Premium I and II models.
• Infotainment: The LaCrosse uses an 8-inch touchscreen with IntelliLink, Bluetooth, Pandora access, steering-wheel controls, and enhanced voice recognition. The tech package also includes a new gauge-cluster screen for fuel economy, tire pressure, maps, and safety alerts.
• Fuel efficiency: The eAssist setup is rated at 25 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. The V6 is rated at 18 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined in FWD form, or 17 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined with AWD.

Which 2014 Buick LaCrosse trim should I buy?

The 2014 Buick LaCrosse is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Leather, Premium I, Premium II.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the value starting point if you want the lowest entry price and are comfortable with the standard eAssist powertrain. It already gives you a well-equipped cabin with the 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth streaming audio, and core comfort features, so it makes sense if you want the LaCrosse experience without paying for V6 power or luxury extras.
• Leather: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the V6 option, AWD availability, a rear-view camera, heated power front seats with memory, rear parking sensors, and leather upholstery. If you want the most balanced mix of features and capability, this is the trim to target.
• Premium I: Choose this if you want a more upscale daily driver with the Bose audio system, heated and cooled front seats, heated steering wheel, and power rear sunshade. It suits you best if comfort and cabin amenities matter more than keeping the purchase price down.
• Premium II: This is the top trim, adding 20-inch alloy wheels and navigation. It makes the most sense if you want the most fully equipped LaCrosse and are willing to pay for it.

Driver Confidence Package 1 is optional, and Driver Confidence Package 2 is available on Premium I and II models.

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The updated 2014 LaCrosse adds contemporary styling, ultra-premium-grade refinement and materials, and leading safety and convenience technologies.

The bottom line: If you want the most refined version of this generation with strong comfort, safety, and a premium feel, the 2014 is a solid choice. If you’re especially price-sensitive, focus on well-kept examples near the low end of the range and be selective about history and mileage so you don’t overpay for a car that has already seen hard use.
