How much does the 2014 BMW 3 Series cost?

Prices have softened 3.71% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,428 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Yes — the 4.79/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.33/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise the fun driving experience, safety features, and modern styling. The summary also points to comfort, fuel efficiency in the diesel model, heated seats, and a spacious interior.

For you, that means this is a good fit if you want a refined sedan with engaging road manners and everyday usability. The market also shows 31.7% good or great deals, so there are still attractive listings to find.

Is the 2014 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.79/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights dependable-feeling ownership themes such as a fun driving experience, safety features, modern styling, and comfort. The expert notes also reinforce the car’s solid, reassuring brakes and composed handling, which support confidence over time.

BMW’s no-cost maintenance plan helps reduce early ownership burden, and that can make used ownership easier to manage. Even so, you should still budget carefully for upkeep and verify service history before buying.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 BMW 3 Series?

At 55% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with higher mileage or visible wear. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the car has the equipment you want, since BMW often made desirable features optional.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: BMW offers four distinct trim lines: Base, Luxury, Sport and M Sport. Sport and M Sport trims emphasize performance with more aggressive body styling, larger wheels and stiffer suspensions, while the base setup is more restrained.
• Powertrain: You can choose from four engines and three transmissions. The lineup includes 320i and 328i turbocharged 4-cylinders, a 335i turbocharged inline 6-cylinder, and a 328d diesel 4-cylinder; a 6-speed manual is available in all trims.
• Safety package: BMW Assist eCall is standard, along with adaptive brake lamps and automatic brake drying. Blind-spot detection, parking sensors, and a backup camera are not standard.
• Infotainment: The car uses BMW’s iDrive controller with a large color screen, quick-loading menus, Bluetooth streaming audio, USB connectivity, and BMW Apps support. Automated parking, head-up display, adaptive cruise control, and a bird’s-eye camera view are available options.
• Fuel efficiency: The 328d promises an EPA-estimated 45-mpg-highway rating, while the tester averaged 17 mpg in mostly city driving.

Which 2014 BMW 3 Series trim should I buy?

The 2014 BMW 3 Series is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Luxury, Sport and M Sport.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point, but BMW still makes you pay extra for many desirable features. It makes sense if you want the core driving experience and plan to keep options modest.
• Luxury: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel without moving into the more aggressive sport-oriented trims.
• Sport: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more aggressive styling and a firmer setup without going all the way to the top trim.
• M Sport: Pick this if you want the most performance-focused appearance and chassis tuning in the lineup.

BMW’s safety equipment is solid, but features like a backup camera, blind-spot detection, and parking sensors are not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 BMW 3 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,428 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.71% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,797, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $10,012 sits slightly below last year's $10,399.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment.

Well-kept examples with desirable options should hold up better than neglected ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.79/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 BMW 3 Series safe?

The 2014 BMW 3 Series didn’t fare too well in new small-overlap crash tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and it still gains five-star ratings on government crash tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW Assist eCall is standard, and it can dial 911 after a crash. The car also includes adaptive brake lamps and automatic brake drying, but a backup camera, blind-spot detection, parking sensors, and even a basic alarm system are not standard.

That small-overlap result is the main caveat to keep in mind. If safety is a top priority, you should pay close attention to the car’s equipment and overall condition before buying.

Should I buy a 2014 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.79/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert summary says newer rivals have caught up, so you should compare it carefully against alternatives.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $10,502, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,012 average.
• It remains a sedan with a tighter, more precise chassis and a powerful engine.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for the next model year, the 2015 may appeal if you prioritize its updated sedan-only focus and can justify the higher price.
