How much does the 2014 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 5.86% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 611 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Acura MDX earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its luxury, comfort, performance, spacious interior, smooth ride, and fuel economy. That lines up with the MDX’s role as a redesigned luxury crossover that aims to feel polished and upscale while still keeping the athletic character many buyers want.

With 33.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2014 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Driver feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with repeated praise for its comfort, smooth ride, and overall satisfaction over time. The expert evaluation also describes the MDX as a refined SUV with strong driving dynamics and a well-calibrated chassis, which supports the impression that it is built to be a confident long-term companion.

The ownership picture is still worth checking carefully on a used example, since luxury SUVs can vary a lot in upkeep and condition from one listing to the next.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Acura MDX?

At 58.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition details that matter in a luxury crossover: interior wear, seat comfort, material quality, and evidence of inconsistent maintenance.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base version is relatively light on technology beyond Bluetooth, music streaming, hands-free text messaging, a USB port, a reversing camera, and Jewel Eye LED headlights. The Technology Package adds keyless access, navigation, AcuraLink real-time traffic, a premium sound system, HD Radio, satellite radio, GPS-linked climate control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot information, and 19-inch wheels. The Technology and Entertainment Package adds rear-seat DVD entertainment, wireless headphones, a remote control, a 110-volt outlet, and heated rear seats. The Advance and Entertainment Package adds a 16.2-inch screen, premium perforated leather seats, ventilated front seats, auto-dimming side mirrors, remote engine start, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane keeping assist, and collision mitigation braking.
• Powertrain: The redesigned model uses a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic. Variable Cylinder Management helps conserve fuel, and SH-AWD is optional.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and blind spot information. The Advance and Entertainment Package adds adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane keeping assist, and collision mitigation braking. Base trims miss those added driver-assistance features.
• Infotainment: Every MDX gets twin display screens, with the lower touchscreen handling stereo and other functions. The Technology Package adds navigation and AcuraLink real-time traffic, while the Technology and Entertainment Package adds rear-seat DVD entertainment with a 9-inch screen. The Advance and Entertainment Package replaces that with a 16.2-inch screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The fully loaded test vehicle was rated at 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, with a combined 21 mpg.

Which 2014 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2014 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Technology Package, Technology and Entertainment Package, and Advance and Entertainment Package.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the simplest way into the MDX, but it is also the most stripped-down version. You get the core luxury crossover experience, yet you miss the added convenience, infotainment, and driver-assistance equipment that make the higher trims feel more complete.
• Technology Package: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the most important everyday upgrades: navigation, AcuraLink real-time traffic, premium audio, keyless access, and key safety tech like forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and blind spot information.
• Technology and Entertainment Package: Choose this if you want the Technology Package equipment plus rear-seat entertainment and family-friendly extras such as wireless headphones, a remote control, a 110-volt outlet, and heated rear seats.
• Advance and Entertainment Package: This is the most fully loaded version, adding the 16.2-inch screen, ventilated front seats, remote engine start, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane keeping assist, and collision mitigation braking. It makes the MDX feel the most upscale, but it is the least value-focused choice.

The safety-package trims add meaningful driver-assistance features, but the base version is much lighter on advanced safety tech.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 611 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.86% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,037, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $12,100 sits slightly below last year's $12,853.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be good news if you are buying now but less favorable if you are planning to sell soon. A softer price trend usually means future resale gains may be limited unless the vehicle is especially clean, well maintained, and attractively equipped.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Acura MDX safe?

The 2014 MDX gets a Good rating in both the moderate overlap frontal-impact test and the side-impact test from IIHS, and the front crash prevention rating is Advanced.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

The Technology Package adds forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and blind spot information. The Advance and Entertainment Package adds adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane keeping assist, and collision mitigation braking.

One caveat is that the lane departure warning system is described as hyper-active and sometimes inaccurate, so you should test those driver-assistance features yourself if you are considering a higher trim.

Should I buy a 2014 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned 2014 model is presented as a better SUV in almost every respect, with stronger refinement and a more polished overall package.

The bottom line: The 2014 is a smart pick if you want the redesigned MDX’s more refined feel and you can find a clean, well-priced example. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare it carefully against nearby years and focus on the best-maintained listing rather than the cheapest one.

How does the 2014 Acura MDX compare to the 2014 Honda Pilot?

Our experts score the 2014 Acura MDX 7.8/10 and the 2014 Honda Pilot 6.8/10.

The MDX is the more powerful and more efficient choice, with a stronger V6 and better city and highway MPG. It also has the higher expert score and a more premium positioning, while the Pilot is the cheaper option with more listings available. If you want the more upscale driving experience and stronger performance, the MDX is the better fit; if your priority is lower entry cost, the Pilot has the advantage.
