The VW Golf TDI is a turbo diesel that blows hybrid cars out of the water. Don't trust the EPA ratings on this car. My average MPG on fuelly is currently 51.2 MPG and this car is absolutely effortless to drive and a bundle of fun as well. It handles the corners remarkably well and its high torque pulls the car strongly. I thought my Mazdaspeed3 was the best all around car but the VW Golf TDI dethrones it in my eyes. The VW Golf TDI is the best commuter vehicle period because it doesn't feel like you are driving a commuter vehicle but it sips fuel like a commuter vehicle.
