Used 2009 Volvo S80 for Sale near Texas
At the top of the Volvo S range of sedans, the S80 sits quite comfortably as the leather-clad, full-size luxury model. A carryover from 2008, the S80 doesn’t see any major changes, but more options become standard for its three trims, the 3.2, T6 AWD, and the V8 AWD.
Each of the three trims has a different engine. The base trim, the 3.2, is equipped with a 3.2-liter, inline six-cylinder engine and a comfortable 235 hp. The 3.2 burns gas at 16/24 mpg (city/highway) and has a six-speed automatic, front-wheel-drive transmission. All three trims have an automatic transmission with geartronic shifting. The mid-level T6 AWD trim carries a 3.0-liter, inline six-cylinder engine, but adds a turbocharger to ramp up its power to 281 hp, while the gas mileage takes a small hit, dropping to 15/23 mpg. Along with the turbocharger, the T6 trim also adds Volvo’s popular all-wheel drive. If "more power" is your mantra, then the V8 AWD trim is what you should consider, seeing that it is the only Volvo sedan with more than six cylinders. The 4.4-liter V8 engine pushes the envelope at 311 hp and shares the same mileage as the T6, at 15/23 mpg.
Being built as a full-size luxury sedan to compete with the German heavy hitters, the S80 comes standard with a few things you certainly don’t need that turn out to be, well, really cool. Optional on the 3.2 and the T6 AWD and standard on the V8 AWD is the Personal Car Communicator. The PCC key remote not only locks and unlocks your doors, but it can also tell you (from anywhere) if you forgot to do so. Not only that, but it has a heartbeat feature that tells you if someone is in the car; this sounds like an unsettling feature, but could be a great stress-reliever if you have to park in a bad part of town. The V8 also comes standard with interior humidity sensors and air filters that can sift out pollen as you take a drive through the country. Along with those features are more typical luxury amenities like leather seats, shift knob, and dashboard; heated seats; and an Alpine stereo with a Dolby Surround Sound decoder and Dynaudio speakers.
Not only does the S80 come standard with a multitude of essential safety features like antilock brakes and dual front and full-length side curtain airbags, but it also adds innovative measures and mechanisms to keep the driver safe. Blind spots aren’t as dangerous as they used to be if your car lets you know when adjacent lanes are occupied with automatic sensors. There is also a monitor that warns the driver of vehicles approaching from the rear or stopped traffic ahead. Optional active bi-xenon lights allow the headlights to follow the direction of steering for better visibility.

(5 reviews)Sweetest car I've owned yet, which includes 3 Mercedes (2 S-class, 1 E-class), a BMW, and 3 Acuras. Great features, AWD is unobtrusive, plenty of pickup w/ the turbo, great interior, and unmatched safety. Very solid, great sound system, fun to drive.
Good, roomy all around family car with good looks and handling. Large trunk but small opening. Fold down rear seats help for long items. I have low miles and didn't have any problems. Poor gas milage. Car should have more sound proofing.
I love the car itself its more of a high way car tho I live out in the country winding roads and the car handles them well for the most part but compared to a couple cars Ive had before it handles turns like a SUV on the high way this car is king it has the power to pass the annoying slowpoke or semi and gets decent gas mileage there but the only problem Ive had since owning my car is a power steering fluid leak and other then that its good I get the avg of about 18mpg on it but I have a heavy foot tbh
This is our fifth Volvo, and it is by far our best yet. I mean we had the bullet-proof 850 GLT, so that's saying something. I love how this car looks, inside and out. It's a great example of contemporary Scandinavian design in all accounts. On the highway, it's unbeatable. The gas mileage, the comfort, the safety, et cetera. I'm a sports sedan person, so this car to me is underpowered and floaty, along with being touchy in regards to steering and brakes. But it is the best of what it is, a luxury executive sedan. I never feel uncomfortable in this car, and I never worry when I'm driving or when someone else has the car about safety. If I ever want to go on a long trip, this is the car to take. Kudos, Volvo!
Handling: Excellent when driving, although parking it is awkward. Build quality: It's too quiet. I can't hear if the engine's running or not, and it was a diesel! Exterior looks good. The front looks a bit better than the previous generation S80, but at the rear, only the tail lights remind you it's a Volvo. The rest of its arse looks like that of a ricer. Side view is the same elegant one as of earlier models. Interior reminds me of a Chesterfield saloon, with a Bang & Olufsen stereo. The seats are extremely comfy and electrically adjustable. Why go to IKEA for Swedish furniture, when you can go to your Volvo dealer's spare parts shop instead? "I'll take three driver seats and two rear seats for the S80, please. No, just put'em in the back of me Transit. It's for me house." Furthermore, the stereo has an aux input (unfortunately not iPod-specific, so use the headphone jack), and there's a diesel-powered cabin heater, for when you just missed the ferry boat at night, and the next one leaves in 1 hour and 59 minutes. Does cost a bob or two to rent (I got it for the price of a Golf, but don't tell anyone. Sssshhh…), but drank hardly any fuel. Remember to turn off the air conditioning when you don't need it, though. You'll quickly notice that it consumes a lot more fuel than the engine does. Fun to drive, yes. The automatic gearbox adapted to my driving gradually during eight hours of road trip. When I felt like it, I could manually override.
