Overview

The BMW M5 remains true to its high-end history for 2009 – a four-door sedan that can seat five but handles like a sports car. The M5 is still powered by BMW’s 500-hp, 5.0–liter V10 engine with 383 pound-feet of torque that's based on its Formula 1 engine. It can take you from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.
An innovation for 2009 is the optional seven-speed sequential manual gearbox with steering-wheel paddles, which also uses F1 technology. BMW's six-speed manual transmission is still available as well. The M Drive system lets the driver electronically select a damper setting tied to electronic steering assistance. This system also provides options for levels of engine power and throttle response as well as stability control.
All that power rides on 19-inch alloy wheels with 255mm front tires and 285mm tires in the rear. And the braking system has been updated to keep all the power in check with BMW’s largest drilled and ventilated rotors: 14.7-inchers in the front and 14.6-inchers in the rear. Other safety features include front- and rear-seat Head Protection Systems, two-stage airbags, front-seat side-impact air bags, and optional rear-seat side-impact air bags.
The xenon adaptive headlights have an auto-leveling feature, and all four of the headlights have individual illuminating rings. The heated side-view mirrors come with electrochromic auto-dimming, a power fold-up feature, and automatic tilt-down of the passenger’s side-view mirror when the M5 is in reverse.
The iDrive system is also updated for 2009. It is now operated with a controller wheel surrounded by preference buttons mounted on the center console. BMW hopes this interface will make it easier to control all of the car's entertainment, communication, and navigation features.
Music from a CD, external MP3 player, or a USB stick can be stored on an 80GB on-board hard drive, which also holds navigation data. The Logic 7 Surround System has 13 upgraded speakers including two subwoofers. Combined with the optional navigation system the iDrive offers an 8.8-inch control display with higher screen resolution. The new iDrive is also the foundation for optional unrestricted Internet access.
Another new accessory is a snap-in adapter for full integration of smartphones, including Apple’s iPhone. An optional compatible USB board is also available.
The 18-way power-adjustable front seats include adjustable seatback side bolsters, headrests, 4-way lumbar and 2-way thigh support, 2-setting memory system for both front seats, and optional heating. The upholstery is Merino leather, and the interior also features brushed aluminum accents.

How many 4 door sedans will do 200 MPH, the V10 high revving engine is amazing and BMW takes care of services done to car. I also own the Mercedes e63 AMG and it will never be in the same league as the M5.
