A mid-size pickup for the everyday user, the 2008 GMC Canyon carries over from 2007 with few changes. It adds foglights and OnStar to its standard features. Equipped with variable valve timing, the 2008 Canyon achieves around 17/24 mpg, respectable for a pickup. All trims come with ABS brakes, dual front airbags, daytime running lights, 15-inch wheels, and a tire monitor. Side curtain airbags are optional, but with side beam protection, the 2008 Canyon earns four and five stars in crash tests. A Z71 off-road suspension package is offered for more rugged driving situations.
