Overview

The ESV trim extends the regular Escalade full-size luxury SUV by 20.4 inches (14 inches go to the extended wheelbase) and adds 1.2 inches to its height. Redesigned in 2007, the ESV features only a few changes for 2008. Previously available only in all-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive is now optional.
The ESV's third-row seating benefits most from its extended length, with a nearly 10-inch legroom gain. This adds up to a behind-the-third-row cargo volume increase from 16.9 cubic feet to 45.8 cubic feet. Removing that row and folding the second-row seats forward leaves 137.4 cubic feet, or about 28 cubic feet more cargo space than a regular Escalade.
The interior seats eight full-size adults with the optional second-row bench seats - two bucket seats are standard. An optional power fold-and-flip function is available for the second-row seats to facilitate third-row entry. Seating is finely stitched, leather swathed, comfortable, and spacious. Faux wood and genuine aluminum trim, chrome details with a mix of soft, padded materials provide for a luxurious and spacious interior. Reviews found the cabin's quiet atmosphere conducive to hushed conversation and enjoyment of the surround sound stereo system.
Like all Escalades, the ESV gets motivation from a 6.2-liter V8 that pumps out 403 hp through a heavy-duty six-speed automatic transmission. This combination garners a 7,800-pound towing rating - 100 pounds more than the regular Escalade. Reviewers rated acceleration as good, given the ESV's nearly 6,000-pound bulk. Of course, this all impacts gas mileage, which at 13/19-mpg city/highway seems average for this class.
Yet, with all its weight and size, reviewers were pleasantly surprised at the ESV's relatively nimble handling. Based on GM's new full-size truck platform, the ESV handles like a vehicle of smaller proportions. With light and reasonably precise steering, reviewers also enjoyed the seating position and view afforded by the ESV's bodacious size. Rollover mitigation technology and an electronic stability system along with the regular safety features are standard.

I love everything about this SUV and the brand. Owning this beauty has been one of the best vehicle purchases that I have made. As you can imagine with a vehicle of this size, this thing isn't the best on gas, but isn't the worst either. and as they say NOTHING drives like a caddy. this thing on the highway is built like a lion but is as quite and smooth as a kitten.

I have owned my 2008 Cadillac Escalade ESV for about a month, and it's great! Alot of room I have three kids and it allows us the ability to carry all of our kids stuff. Very comfortable on long trips.

It is a great SUV with loads of room and fun to drive. Good gas mileage, even in the worst weather. The leather heated seats are one opinion we can never live without now and we love the XM radio. No squeaks or rattles.
