The Range Rover actually accounts for two of the three Land Rover models in production for 2007. The Range Rover is accompanied by the separate Ranger Rover Sport, which is a closer relative of the LR3. The Sport is differentiated by unique styling, smaller dimensions, a shorter wheelbase, a lower curb weight, and a slightly less luxurious finish. The Range Rover serves the same purpose as always: luxury you can take anywhere. The Sport is intended as more of an on-road performer. The larger Range Rover receives some significant interior revisions and updates for 2007, including new cup holders and center console, a reorganized dash layout, additional wood and metal trimming, and a more refined climate control system. Heated seats are now standard on all models, and a driver's knee airbag has been added. The Sport is mostly unchanged, but Bluetooth has been added to the standard equipment list. Both Range Rovers are available in two trims, each with own unique power plant. The lower priced HSE models are powered by a 4.4 liter V-8, adjusted differently for power output from model to model. The Range Rover HSE is supplied with 305 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, while the Sport HSE get five fewer horses and ten less pound-feet of torque. The Supercharged Rovers are fitted with an enhanced 4.2 liter V-8, serving up 400 horsepower for the Range Rover and 390 for the Sport. All models use a six speed automatic transmission. The Supercharged trim brings a significant price increase, which Land Rover justifies with many additional features. However, the HSEs offer most of these items as options.
