A fully redesigned Range Rover in 2003, and steady improvements have continued in the following years. An antiquated and unreliable electrical system has been a common complaint with past models, but Land Rover, now under Ford, has addressed those issues. A new fiber optic system debuts in 2005, integrating the audio, phone, and navigation system. The new navigation system is DVD-based, and the LCD display has been replaced with a VGA screen. The harmon/kardon sound system is now 710 watts, and Bluetooth is also a new feature this year.
In 2005, Ford began to explore new engine options for the Range Rover, to fully dissolve the BMW connection. Ford eventually would look to its other British subsidiary, Jaguar, but these new engines would not appear until 2006. For now, the Range Rover continues with last year's 4.4 liter V-8. This engine supplies the 5379 pound SUV with 282 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. The Range Rover will tow 7700 pounds, and achieve gas mileage of 12/16 mpg.
Only one very well-equipped trim level is offered this year, with a variety of new features. The 4x4 experience is enhanced by features like height-adjustable air suspension, electronic suspension control, descent control, the limited slip differential, and a new graphic display of 4WD information (wheel angle, suspension settings) is available to the driver through the VGA screen. Luxury items are also abundant. Standard features include a navigation system, leather upholstery, wood trim, rain sensing wipers, a premium harmon/kardon sound system, automatic multi-zone climate control and power/heated front seats with a memory function for the driver. Options include 14-way adjustable seats and a leather-trimmed dash.
New electrical engineering has helped to alleviate some of the previous owner issues, and has also minimized trips to dealer service for minor but nagging problems. Some related complaints do remain, including Bluetooth incompatibility, minor mechanical snags (power mirrors, seats), and very low gas mileage. Favorite features include the new navigation system, overall sedan-like handling, the quiet interior, unparalleled off-road abilities, height-adjustable suspension and very comfortable seating.

(29 reviews)If you can affoard it, this is an un-forgettable experience... Acceleration, handling are second to none. Riding through traffic is easy and makes commuting more fun. Powerful brakes. The Audio system is the best I have heard, so far. Navigation is easy to use and equipment is high quality. Premium material are used inside and out. Well designed thick leather seats. Maintenance is more expensive than most SUVs, but worth the trouble considering how much more performance and confort you get.
I loved everything & the way it makes me look from outside, always feels good to drive it, it's fun, soft, very comfortable for long driving too. Never get bored or tiered in it. The look will always be in still!
For a big vehicle, the range rover has terriffic performance, the model i own can also function in sport mode and once you step on it the whole v8 engine takes off. The noise levels are very low, once you are inside the car you seem totally immune to what is happenning outside the cabin. The sound system is fantastic and seems like a studio,it has a harman kardon system that is just COOL! Its quite expensive to own but once you have it, the envy from passers by makes up for that......In my country, Nigeria, there is a shortage of qualified mechanics that specialise in range rovers and that makes it relatively expensive to maintain, i have even had to order an electronic component from the UK once. Having owned a 2006 toyota 4runner, 2002 Nissan pathfinder, 2006 toyota landcruiser and still own a 2008 ford escape.......the range rover is a whole new experience in Jeep ownership....Its a perfect blend of luxury and ruggeddness.....When driving the car you feel like passing through anything and the ride still manages to remain smooth......AMAZING!
Overall I liked everything about this vehicle, handeling, performance, ect. I see only 2 things ai did not like are the gas mileage and it is only a 5 passanger vehicle and even that is only a bother when it is needed.
I love that the car has the hydraulic system. The car is very luxury but can be used for everything. It has a V8 engine so defenatly has power and can pull big things. Very spacious inside. has a huge trunk in the back. Devenatly very nice family car.
