Overview
Oh, the gas mileage. This is the number-one complaint of Dodge Durango owners. No one expects any SUV to get good mileage, particularly one that boasts 102 cubic feet of cargo space, a towing capacity of up to 8,900 pounds, and a 5.9-liter Hemi V8 engine. But bless its oversized heart, the Durango is trying. In 2007, along with the regular 4.7-liter, 235-hp V8, the Durango offers as its standard engine (in all 4WD, SLTs, and above) a Flexible Fuel E85-compatible 4.7-liter V8, which gets the same horsepower, but gives drivers the choice of using gas, ethanol, or any combination of both. Still standard in the base model SXT 2WD is the 3.7-liter, 210-hp V6. And still first off the line and barreling down off-road trails like a knife through butter is the 335-hp Hemi V8.
Perhaps also fueled by consumer complaints, Dodge has restyled the exterior of the 2007 Durango, giving it a classier, more angled look. Less sloping, and sharper edges to the hood, grille, and bumpers, plus flush wraparound headlights convey an aerodynamic feel without losing any of its monster attitude. For safety concerns, an electronic stability program, tire pressure monitor, rollover sensing system, anti-skidding, and an ultrasonic rear parking assistant solve some of the issues raised by drivers.
Other new options in the 2006 Dodge Durango include a remote starter, 20-inch wheels, and optional captain's seats in the second row. The Durango has redesigned its floor and electrical system in preparation for the overdue hybrid version in 2008.

Having almost every option is of course nice but the dealer does not seem to be very savvy in this department. Unfortunately for them I actually use all the bells and whistles. When I call with questions after reading the owner's manual no one can seem to help. The SUV itself has really impressed me. We did alot of research and this was the most reliable fully loaded luxurious car in its class. My children enjoy riding in it for short and long trips. I use it mostly around town. We have owned it for 3 months but have taken it to a completely different climate and it handled the change very well. Last week we took it into the mountains and we can hardly wait to take it on ski trips this winter. Aesthetically speaking I would like to have different dash material on the inside. It does not feel and look as nice as lets say the Jeep Grand Cherokee or BMW X5. The only other thing that is easy for me to change and I have is the Black door handles and side mirrors. Body colored or wheel matching gives it a much sleeker look.

I love everything about this car except for the fuel economy! I love how it sits up a little higher than most vehicles, and how quickly it can accelerate. I've never felt safer behind the wheel than when I drive my silver Durango. Which is important because it's the vehicle I drive my daughter in, on our way to school, soccer games, etc. I almost hope it doesn't sell right away, because I I'm going to miss driving it!

Very sleek look. Extremely comfortable ride. Great handling for a larger vehicle. The power of a truck with the maneuverability of a car. Wonderful family vehicle. Perfect for a driving vacation. Very comfortable for short or long distance travel. Lots of amenities.
