Used 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon for Sale near Grants Pass, OR
4.8 Overall rating
(10 reviews)I love the performance blended w/ practicality. It has never had any major problems and provides an economical (~25mpg) performance vehicle for any form of driving, vice off road. All-wheel drive is clutch in wet/snowy conditions. She always has a smile on her face:)
This car is absolutely amazing. It handles like a go-cart, has excellent thrust over 3,000 rpm's, and is an absolute hoot to drive. The ride is very firm - bordering on harsh - so if you require a plushy, Cadillac-like ride (like my Dad) you may want to look elsewhere. My only minor gripe is that the shifter is a little too "rubbery" for my tastes and could benefit from a touch more tightness and precision. While some people knock the styling, I think it looks great. (particularly the 2006-07 updates) As an everyday driver, the wagon version is extremely practical too. It can fit practically anything inside once you fold down the middle seats, gets about 27 - 30 mpg, and has an AWD system that's amazing in even the thickest snow. Build quality and reliablity are absolutely bullit-proof. Simply put, this is the perfect alternative to anyone who lives in the snowbelt of the North East, wants to enjoy some performance within their daily commute, and is (foolishly) considering an SUV.
I love my ugly car. It is essentially my "daddy wagon" + "porsche" mushed into one. I commute to work with it, carry my THREE kids around in it (yes 3 car seats), and use it for trackdays/rallyx/autox. The low end torque along with the AWD and poise makes daily driving fun, the 235 HP turbo charged engine really gives it spunk. The stock suspension is pretty soft, but I swapped in 22mm front and rear sway bars which really helped to reduce body roll and bring handling more neutral. 5-speed transmission is adequate. Pedals are situated well for heel-toe shifting. The wagon 5-door body means I can carry (although squishy compared to a van) my family of 5. The hatchback means I can move large bulky objects. The car is beautifully ugly. Great, Japanese reliability. MPG sucks... I get 22-23mph combined. Incredibly fun to drive.
Good: Bang for the buck. Fast, reliable, versatility, resale value, handling, WRC history..... and so on... Bad: Styling a bit outdated, feels and looks a little to conventional... like a Toyota or Honda. WRX stands for get out of my way... can't you hear my boxer engine growl ... no ... oh.... you're right! Since, Subaru placed a bunch of crappy silencers to make the car sound like a Toyota... so mom wouldn't be scared. Good thing its all easy to remove.... Bottom line. Priceless = Bang for the buck. Get one before they are gone forever.
Been driving this car for over four years now. It's been a lot of fun, and it has been very practical for me. I'm getting a little older now and I think I might like something a little more comfortable, but otherwise no complaints. BTW, I'm 6'3" and this car fits me very well, both in leg and headroom.
