Used 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis for Sale Nationwide
The twenty-six year old Grand Marquis, after a number of upgrades and makeovers, remains Mercury's best selling car. Based on the venerable Ford Crown Victoria, both cars are throwbacks to the era when the American highway cruiser ruled the roads in America.
With its V8 automatic, rear wheel drive, seating for six adults, cavernous trunk, and land barge handling, the Grand Marquis has only cosmetic revisions for 2006: a new grille, front fascia, and headlights, new 16-inch, spoked aluminum wheels, and some new interior features on the LS trim line.
With its 212 inches overall length, riding on a 114.6-inch wheelbase, the Grand Marquis has earned five-star safety ratings for the past ten years. Reviewers recommend the optional 239-hp V8, available with the LS trim line, which includes the handling package: a different rear-axle ratio for better acceleration, rear stabilizer, rear air suspension (a self-leveling system), and aluminum wheels; and the traction control option for snow country.
These options help, but do not overcome the car's barge-like handling. The Grand Marquis adequately handles round the town jaunts hauling the kids sports equipment one owner commented that he found the Grand Marquis a better option for his family than a mini-van. An adequate highway cruiser in small doses, reviewers and some owners faulted the bolster-less seats for fatigue after three hours of steady driving. Other owners liked the floating, large car feeling comparing it to Cadillac and Lincoln rides. Reviewers, however, were not so easily impressed.
Neither were they impressed with the average 17 mpg, though one owner claimed 26-27 mpg on the highway. While owners enjoyed the interior roominess for six adults and large trunk, others cited the interior's poor ergonomics, lackluster sound system, and wind noise. One owner's son summed up the Grand Marquis when he equated the driving experience to being the captain of the starship Enterprise - ah, the good old days.

(11 reviews)If you took this car, slap some chrome bumpers on and take out the CD player and stick in the middle of the 70's, it would fit right in. It's got a V8, rear wheel drive, body-on-frame chassis, seats six and has a huge trunk. The engine is just a toned down Mustang engine. The rest of it is pretty much just a dressed up cop car. I've drag raced it and autocrossed it and to most people's surprise, did fairly well for a two ton land yacht. The ride is smoother than most cars, but isn't the smoothest that I've driven (Lincoln Town Car). It has plenty of leather and chrome; Classic American Luxury. If you want an older, bigger car, but need the practicality of a new car, look at the Grand Marquis. P.S. Mine was originally a Hertz rental car and was in an accident before I bought it, so it has had a few problems, but the Grand Marquis' record on reliability is as good as any Japanese car.
Full size, very comfortable front and back, reliable engine. (I have had mine 16 years, my main car, no problems.) Very good value.
i like eveything, very roomy, a nice smooth ride lots of trunk space, pretty good on gas, its a great car for long ride trips because its such a comfortable drive and I think eveyone will love ths car. Its awesome.

This '06 Grand Marquis LS is our third G-Marquis. Previous ones were '89 and '98, all LSs. All three of them were bought used and have been very decent cars. My wife and I are taller than average old timers and like the value, comfort, roominess, large trunk and the safe feeling we have while driving/riding in them. Mid-size cars seem cramped and just don't fill the bill for us. The LS Grand Marquis' all had automatic A/C and plenty of features. No FWD, AWD, nav, bluetooth, cameras, cd changers, but that's just fine with us. It's called an old man's car and I'm an old man. OK by me.
