Drivers of the 2006 Ford Freestyle tend to like it, but have a few reservations about recommending it wholesale. Among complaints were that the base 3.0-liter V6 engine gets on the lower side of the fuel efficiency estimate, though they tout the excellent handling in rough weather and roomy interior. The Freestyle is available as a front- or all-wheel drive, and has SE, SEL, and Limited as trims. The Freestyles adaptability ensures it can handle itself on the road with grace, all with surprising fuel economy. Dont get fooled by the stylish mid-size look. Once inside the Freestyle looks and feels like a full-sized luxury dream ride. The many included safety features provide you and your passengers with a secure ride and peace of mind. Also note as a Freestyle owner I got news that Ford knows about uneven wear on the brake pads and will be issuing new pads in the 4th quarter. I am still waiting for mine to come in. Other than that the vehicle handles better than most SUV / VAN's that I have driven as the limited has an 18" wheel base and has a low center of gravity which helps it stay on the road in various conditions. All in all this is a very nice vehicle and great for the long trips.
