About 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
Overview

The 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid represents a real innovation in the hybrid-vehicle field. Based on the sporty Escape SUV, the hybrid version is powered by gasoline and an electric battery and boasts an EPA estimate of 34 miles per gallon in city driving. Although the '06 Escape Hybrid doesn't get the mileage of smaller gas/electric vehicles like the Toyota Prius or Honda Insight, it does offer the advantage of combining a roomy, comfortable sport utility vehicle with hybrid technology.
And the 2006 Escape Hybrid is a lot of fun considered on its own merits as an SUV. Drivers praise the Escape's nimble handling and cargo capacity; reviewers say its hybrid drivetrain performs just as well as the mainstream Escape's inline-4 gasoline engine.
The only downside is price: You'll pay a premium for the new technology on the '06 Ford Escape Hybrid. But with tax incentives and savings at the pump, you may wind up coming out ahead over the life of the vehicle. So far, hybrids have held their value well on the used-vehicle market.

Since my other car was sporty, a gas guzzler, and not good to load cargo or to park up on curbs, or do anything other than go fast and look awesome, I needed something more practical to be a daily driver. The Ford Escape was one of the earlier vehicles to offer a hybrid powertrainl, and so it could be had on the used market cheapest. It is practical, gets awesome gas mileage, and actually handles quite nicely. And since the engine was designed to compete with the 6 cylinder model, it actually accelerates decently, too.

I like that the seats are high enough for a person of short stature can see over the hood. I am not the best driver in the world, but the car is still in very good shape. I fully enjoy this vehicle, and love that its a hybrid.
