About 2005 Toyota Tacoma
4.3 Overall rating(17 reviews)
Nov 9, 2025
I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma Crew Cab SB 4WD 4.0V6 engine. They definitely are built to last. The one I have has over 280,000 miles they are well known to get well over 300,000 miles if maintained properly.

Strong engine with a responsive transmission, love the LSD. Looks great. Comes with a very good warranty. The paint job isn't that great, but they've fixed that on newer models. Gets decent fuel mileage, runs better on premium, but fine on regular. Rear suspension squeaks if not maintained properly.

Solid truck, standard routine maintenance will keep it running for many years of happy ownership.

I like everything about the 2005 Tacoma, it is good looking, very reliable, and maintains it's value. Up to now, the only issues I have had is battery, repelace tires and brakes. Unfortunately, now with 110k miles, i am having that hard steering wheel problem, it is getting very difficult to trun the wheel and it wont return to center.

This is an amazing truck by Toyota! First test drive I knew I had to have it. I had driven a 5 cylinder Colorado extreme but it could not compare to the X-Runner. The power this truck have is impressive and for a truck it’s weight is not so bad either. It sports a ractive exhaust dual in, dual put system and it sounds totally radical cruising. My sound system is fully aftermarket and was easy to install. 6 speed manual tranny with cruise control makes it easy and efficient on the long haul. Loving my Yota!

Despite the redesigned 2005 Tacoma’s tech-forward interior, it remains a back-to-basics pickup.
The Toyota Tacoma enjoys a reputation as one of the longest-lasting and longest-running vehicles on the road today, and it’s been a part of Toyota’s lineup in some form or another since 1995. The company’s ability to build a solid, dependable, and capable pickup truck is on full display with the updated 2005 Tacoma. Even so, rival trucks from Nissan and Ford have also gotten better over the years, so how well does the Tacoma stand up to its competition?
