Overview
Cadillac's full-size front-drive DeVille sedan underwent a major redesign for the 2000 model year. The only change for the 2005 model year was the addition of the Protection Series to the DeVille lineup, which brings bullet-resistant glass and ballistic protection to the DeVille line.
The Northstar 300-hp V8 powers the DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan) line, while the DHS (DeVille High Luxury Sedan) receives the 275-hp Northstar. Both engines mate to a four-speed automatic transmission. Standard equipment includes all-disk ABS and traction control. The DTS adds Cadillac's StabiliTrak antiskid system and a Continuous Variable Road Sensing Suspension. In addition, all DeVilles come with GM's OnStar emergency/communications system, newly optional rear side airbags, and front side airbags. DeVilles also sport the new LED tail lamp technology, which lights up faster.
The interiors are quiet, spacious, comfortable, and well executed. Leather interiors are standard with a lumbar-massaging front seat. A split front bench comes standard on the base and DHS trim lines. The DHS line adds power rear-seat lumbar adjustment, a power rear-window sunshade, and manual shades for the rear windows. There are separate back seat temperature adjustments, heated and cooled front seats, and a heated steering wheel. The DTS comes only with front bucket seats. NightVision comes as an option on the DHS/DTS models. This image-seeking technology uses infrared waves to project an image of the view ahead onto the windshield. An ultrasonic parking assist option provides audible and visual warnings to assist in rear parking maneuvers. The large 19.1-cubic-foot trunk has a convenient bumper-level liftover.
These Cadillacs do not handle like your father's Caddy. The smooth-functioning automatic transmission enhances the strong performance of the Northstar engines. 0-60 sails by in 7 seconds, but expect 14-16.7 mpg on the 300-hp engine. Steering is light, but not as floating as past Cadillacs. One reviewer characterized the handling as "comfortable yet controlled."

It runs beautifully. Power house. It doesnt have a limit on the speed it seems, the power is great. Gas mileage is great as well with about 20-23 mpg. Appearance- stunning, black exterior and tan interior, as well as heated seats and steering wheel. Also the front seats have cooled seats too. Power steering is great, though I'm not terribly a fan of it, this car is great to drive.

Having heated seats are nice but the air conditioned seats rock in Texas. It's your float over the railroad tracks ride that Cadillac has always delivered. These long wheelbase Cadillac's ride better then all others with the exception of a BMW 7 Series or a S-Class Mercedes.
