There seems to be great diversity in consumer opinion when characterizing automobiles. The 2004 Honda Element does not escape this inconsistency, yet at the same time nearly everyone provides a high overall rating.
There is definitely a preference for the 4 WD version over the front-wheel drive package. Everyone finds cleaning the interior to be extremely easy. Other comments about the interior range from cavernous to not large enough, and relaxing to not so comfy.
In the end however, it is a Honda - affordable, economical, practical yet fun to drive.

I purchased my element to replace my 89 jeep cherokee. This car has been a perfect fit for our family. it is so versatile and roomy. I have had it all 10 years and will keep it till the wheels fall off!
The plusses; Its a good design, lots of space for all the passengers inside, with a very easy to clean interior. The seats all fold flat for a large sleeping area or the rest seats fold against the wall for an impressive amount to space for the footprint. Perfect for active, outdoorsy types. The problems: Very few power options,. Only the front windows roll down, the rear and sunroof (if equipped) only open on a latch. The rear seats are not next to the rear windows. I cant imagine spending any time in them would be enjoyable. All in all its a good fit for an active single or couple, not a family vehicle.
Great car for all walks of life. If your an outdoors person or just a person who needs to get around town this is a great car for you. With a 270 watt stereo, real time four wheel drive, and plenty of cargo room for almost whatever you need to move you will be moving in style!
Hands down most functional vehicle around. 16 yrs and 150k miles in it runs and looks like new. Inside and out. Honda quality.
