(30 reviews)I have been a very pleased owner of the XLT 4.0L V6 SuperCab 4x4 Ranger. I do not have experience with other versions of this truck which are many. I purchased the vehicle new from the dealer and have owned it for 93,000 miles, mostly garaged. I took the vehicle off road about one every 2 weeks, but did not heavily load it frequently. I purchased the Ford Workshop Manual to perform nearly all of the vehicle maintenance myself with decent mechanical tallent, but very little experience or any formal mechanical training. I performed nearly all the vehicle maintenance myself and ended up with very reasonable costs of ownership as a result. Parts are readily available for this vehicle both new and used. I previously owned a foriegn vehicle and never will again due to the difficulty and extra expense of obtaining service and parts. The vehicle did experience a leak between the transmission and the transfer case (4x4 drive) which I had repaired by the dealer at a cost for about 1300 dollars. One of the fron wheel bearings went bad at about 70,000 miles which I believe is consitent if not overdue for these vehicles. I replaced both front wheel bearings with Timken bearings and would recomend any owner due the same. Overall I would make the same purchase decision again to buy this vehicle over the competition that was made at the same time in the same price range.
its fast and clean, good engine, looks cute, a lil fixed up, good accelration, enough space, good gas mileage, low mileage, good cloth eats...not to hard not to soft i dont like that not very many parts are available for them.
Reliable, parts are inexpensive, truck is easy to maintain. Tune-ups; spark plugs, plug wires are easily changed, shocks are easy to change. New radiator, hoses and clamps - cooling system is serviced for years to come. New front and rear brakes, even rebuilt the alternator to save cost over the replacement.
I love my truck!! It's fun to drive, tons of power for the 4.0 V6, owned it for a year now, never done anything on it except for swapping the air filters. Gas consumption isn't even too bad!! :D. Over all a great truck, definitely my favorite vehicle I've ever owned!
It's a built Ford Tough Ranger and its unsurpassed fuel economy and reliability has been remarkable. It gets about 30 mpg highway and 25 city and has been a vehicle that has impressed me numerous times! Theres nothing that can beat the quality of a Ranger pickup!
