Overview

Other than a few minor upgrades to the list of standard features, the 2001 Mazda MPV minivan was essentially unchanged from the previous year. Power for the front-wheel-drive vehicle was provided by a 2.5-liter V6 engine that produced 170 horsepower. A four-speed automatic was the only transmission available. The 2001 MPV was available in DX, LX, and ES trim packages. Standard features for the DX included power steering, power brakes, a tilt steering wheel, air conditioning, and an AM/FM stereo system with a CD player. The LX added power windows, power door locks, cruise control, anti-lock brakes, and a keyless entry system, which was a new feature for 2001. The ES added leather seats, power heated mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a premium audio system with both CD and cassette players. Drivers thought the MPV was a functional, versatile, and reliable vehicle, although some reported having too many mechanical problems with the vehicle. The handling, styling, and stereo system were also noted as positive points. And despite having more horsepower, the MPV was still considered to be underpowered by some drivers.

This Van Drove amazing! Check the computer board ($300+) at the dealership- I had to replace mine and the transmission might act up at the same time - but My expert in Transmissions called over to the the Mazda dealer to tell them that I did not need a new transmission after all - Just a $135.00 valve. I sold it to my girlfriend at 160,000Km and she is still driving it without a problem

I bought my MPV from an auction dealer so it wasn't in top condition, but I got a good deal on it. I knew it would have problems but I didn't think this many. I may have gotten one that was treated badly. So far I love it when its not in the shop. I will re-review it when it is in tip top condition. Otherwise I stick to my reviews as of now.

My MPV's heart is 2.0 and LPG is installed, so at the summer time with AC swithed on feels that it's AC takes good part of engine's power. But over all braking and handling are good enough. Build quality is good but I missing heated leather seats. Especially during the winter its really cold but thanks god real leather warms quick . No unussual repares were maid One front bearing and front silent blocks were changed after a year I drove it. Runing on LPG makes traveling cheaper. Traveling is comfy enough only acces to third row of the seats a bit complicated when 2nd row of the seats are loaded. Over all thinking of a family van it's nice and comfy. I like it!
