The Toyota Tacoma stayed virtually the same for the 2000 model year.
The 2000 Toyota Tacoma was available in nine different configurations: the Regular Cab, Xtracab, and Xtracab V6 in 2WD or 4WD, Limited Xtracab 4WD, PreRunner 2WD, and PreRunner V6 2WD. The base engine was a 2.4-liter 142-hp 4-cylinder. The 4WDs came standard with a 2.7-liter 150-hp four. The V6 has 3.4 liters and 190 hp. Fuel economy was about 17/20 mpg.
Drivers of the 2000 Toyota Tacoma like its small size, excellent off-road capabilities, and Toyota reliability. Many drivers say the extended cab's second-row seating is suitable for children only, and some find the ride too bumpy.

People don’t buy Toyota’s for features. They buy for function and reliability. There is no other model/make to compare to. Toyota hands down is worlds ahead of any other maker and hold value like no other.

This is the second Toyota truck I have owned and have had several in the family. I love the dependability and functionality of them; their resale value is exceptional and are always in high demand. For the occasions when I do go off-road, it's nice to have a vehicle that can take it. Its performance is good but is not the most comfortable vehicle for long trips. Because of the 5-speed it's also no fun in stop and go traffic. The build quality is top-notch and I much prefer this body style to the newer ones. With 103K on it, it's just getting broken in and I've had minimal expense in repairs. For the money, I believe this to be the best small truck on the road.

190 HP is okay by today's standards, but not exactly a rocket. Braking is fantastic. Mine has the TRD offroad package, which makes it sit high, causing quite a bit of sway and roll on sharp turns/curves. Large tires help it stick well during acceleration and braking. Great in the snow. Toyota quality can't be beat. TCO is the lowest for any car I've ever owned.
