For 1997, the Toyota Tacoma got a new grille and headlights on the 2WD. Also, the base engine saw a few improvements, and new option packages were offered for all models. The 1997 Toyota Tacoma was available in three trim levels: the Regular Cab, the Xtracab, and the SR5 Xtracab. The Regular and the Xtracab were available in 4WD, and the SR5 came standard with it. The base engine was a 2.4-liter, 142-horsepower four cylinder; and a 2.7-liter, 150-horsepower four-cylinder; or a 190-horsepower V6 was also available. Fuel economy varied depending on the engine and cab, and ranged from about 17/19 to 22/28. Drivers like the 1997 Toyota Tacoma because of its compact size and relatively good gas mileage. They also like its reliability. Some drivers complain that the ride can be a little bumpy, and the 2WD does not handle well in the snow.

great little truck good power for a 4cyl and amazing wheeling capabilities and the fuel economy rocks and so reliable. cheap to maintain and cheap to insure great commuter and fun to drive would recommend it to anyone. the end

The performance is great the four cylinder doesnt hace the most power but it was built strong appearance is grat and the resale value is amazing. It gets great gas mileage mantenance is low and i love to drive it

Off road capability, 31x10.5 stock tires. Great clearance, short wheel base. Good gas mileage, roughly 20 -22 average. Looks. 5 speed Manual transmision. Never had a single issue with the truck. Never let me down and I really pushed its limits. Overall, Best vehicle I have ever owned!

Best Truck ever. It is 100x better than the dodge dakota. Endless possibilities you can do with this truck. It is good on gas and is a blast to drive around town with. You will never be upset with this truck. Everyone should have one.
