Used 1999 Ford Explorer for Sale near San Jose, CA

Great vehicle. learned to drive on it and compare all other cars to it. Handling is sturdy, needs to take sharp turns slower but that is expected. Easy to do small maintainence but costs a fourtune to take to a shop. Can hit a buck at 50+ mph and only break a headlamp cover.

Have put 223,000 miles on vehicle since new. The transmission has not been replaced, but is getting "clunky". We never hauled anything, only kids, dog, and cargo. Has held up well, but is showing age and mileage now. Would recommend the bigger engines (ours has SOHC V6, not base V6) as they seemed to have held up better over time, especially if not hauling large loads. Acceleration is not what it used to be when new. No jump to vehicle. Gas mileage has gone down.

I loved this truck. I put over $10,000 dollars into this truck in the course of 5 years. It was great for off roading and rock climbing but not so great for daily driving, especially at high speeds on the interstate. The steering box still needed some work as well as other steering components. Overall, it was unlike any other Explorer around and looked great with no body damage even after all of the off road trips I put her through.

Its a strong truck that we can get in and drive problem free. we have taken it across the country on extreme last minute things and it will go no problem. it has plenty of power and the handling is amazing. the body is in great shape and it gets 20mpg highway. we filled it up with cement when working on our house and it drove through cities and highway like there was nothing in it. over all i could not be more pleased in a car.

It has carried every body and every thing through anything. It has been through every snow storm in the last 10 years. It has carried the entire neighborhood through any storm, rain, sleet, snow, hail, trees, durecho, floods, tornadoes, and sunny weather. Our neighbors went out and bought one because this has been such a good car for us.
