The reason they are so cheap is they have a design flaw. The flaw is that the head gaskets leak, you cannot replace them as the studs that hold the head together warp if you remove the head, so there is literally nothing you can do other than replace the motor. This is an issue on ALL NORTHSTAR engines.. Google Northstar overheating before you buy one.. I had purchased this with 67k miles to use as a car in which i worked out of. I paid 4k for it. (2008) the Northstar is powerful, smooth, quiet, and when you are cruising along, no traffic a nice place to be.. But in any traffic they have a terrible cooling system and will overheat. the fans kick on too late to cool the motor, which causes the head gaskets to leak. I attempted to fix this by using a triple core aluminum dragster radiator, and two 15K CFM fans, hooked to a toggle switch, but the thermostat does not recycle the fluid until the computer kicks the thermostat to do so, and you still overheat. Aside from the motor, it has the typical GM electrical issues.. Typical issues with power windows not working.. The alarm due to the key, is a piece of software in the stock radio, you cannot remote it without causing it to always go off.. Annoyance, i cut the lead wires to fix that.. It still would click, but it didn't effect anything. Anyway.. Got stuck in traffic on the cross bronx expressway in NY. Car overheated.. Caught fire Went back later that night after the FDNY put it out.. replaced the plug wires, and lower as well as upper coolant hoses.. started back up. Traded for cash for clunkers.

Its got a lot of room and a lot of power, and not just power seats either. This thing has balls! It won't catch a mustang, but for a two ton luxosaur its pretty impressive. Accelaration at highway speed it instantaneous and the ride is butter smooth. You can also fit like 8 bodies in the trunk if need be. The only thing to watch with the Caddies is repair costs...they'll getcha! However, right now these aare a real bargain, $3000 will put you ina nice one.
