Overview

The 1998 Nissan 200SX saw a number of cosmetic changes for the model year, which would be the last year the sporty coupe would be produced. The seats were improved to be more supportive, the gaguges, headlights, and bumpers were redesigned, and the base model got larger tires.
The 1998 200SX came in three trims: the base trim, the midrange SE, and the sporty SE-R. The base and SE came standard with a 1.6-liter 115-horsepower engine, and the SE-R had a 2.0-liter 140-horsepower engine. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, with an optional four-speed automatic. Fuel economy is about 28/37 for the base engine and 23/30 for the larger engine.
Most owners are very happy with their 1999 200SX. They admit that it isn't a flashy car, but say they that it is fun to drive, gets excellent gas mileage, and is very reliable. Many wish for more power, and there are complaints about excess cabin noise.

performance- as a standard car it was pretty sedate... on par with a modern hot hatch.. but after a few modifications she's a little more alive, increase in boost, increased breathing and fuel supply and she now accelerates at a more lively pace. brakes are standard and quite frankly shocking. but perhaps time for some new fluid :P handling is a bit on the wallowing barge side of the scale, but with uprated shocks/springs the ride is better, but looking to replace and upgrade to the worn bushes and anti roll bars, then she'd be on rails. build quality- the build quality is good, still no rattles or nasty squeaks to speak of, and nothings fallen off. although it is an older car, which means it doesn't have the protection of moder cars, so it doesn't feel 'solid' appearance- love it, was part of the reasons i fell in love with the car... the only thing that i have to complain abut is the rear lights.... not good cost of ownership- car was cheap enough to buy given the package that comes with it. mielage isnt particularly brilliant, about 300-350 miles to a full tank, though i do have a lead foot from time to time, but a remap to include all the mods would improve this again. parts are cheap enough and easily available with a huge aftermarket scene given the cars use in motorsport, primarily drifting. fun factor- 10/10...

I've just been driving this little car for a few weeks, but it's pretty impressive. Fun to drive, great on gas mileage, and with lots of features I would expect in a higher end vehicle.

Quick, responsive, lots of power at the rear wheels means I'm always driving sideways. Sounds beautiful, drives smooth and moves when you put your foot down. Pumps out 195kw at the wheels which is pretty sweet for a stock turbo and ECU

Its a good little car. Its got a considerable amount of power for such a small engine. Its great on gas. It fits five people comfortably. Its fun to drive in the sense of its little and you can move around pretty easy.
