Overview

The 1998 Dodge Stratus keeps the tradition of being Dodge's mid-line family sedan. With two available trims, the base and the ES, the 1998 Dodge Stratus gives both affordability and comfort, depending on what you're looking for. With a 2.0 I4, a 2.4 I4 or a 2.5-liter V6 available depending on the trim level, the 1998 Dodge Stratus can get you around town within the speed limit with reasonable efficiency. Gas mileage is rather good, anywhere from 19/28 if you have the 4-speed automatic to 27/37 from the manual. Optional ABS, child-door locks, power locks, and driver and passenger airbags keep the occupants of the car safe.
In addition to being safe, there are a number of standard features and options available to make sure that everyone in the car remains comfortable. First and foremost among these is the large amount of passenger room that the 1998 Dodge Stratus boasts. Other features are air conditioning, power windows, leather seats, a power sunroof, and a CD player, just to name a few. The 1998 Dodge Stratus is a car that lets you drive around happy while you're going to work or getting your groceries (which can fit easily in the 15.7 cubic feet of storage space).
Owners of the 1998 Dodge Stratus almost unanimously had something to complain about, and also almost always appreciated the roominess of the car. Head gaskets, transmissions, and other random parts of the 1998 Stratus fail. This is a practical car for daily driving if you don't mind having to put some money into repairs now and then.

I used to own a 2003 Stratus, now I own a 1998 Stratus. My 03 had a v6 and my 98 has a 4 cylinder. The 1998 gets better gas mileage, it's still comfortable up front and back...there's plenty of foot room in the back seat, which is nice. The driver's side has an adjustment on the seat where it can make the chair go up or down which I thought was nice. The controls on the panel on the stereo & the AC are easy to see and easy to control. The cup holders on both the 03 and the 98 are the same. They suck. You can only fit like a soda can in them. The paint chips and fades. Also, I've never experienced this with my 03, but only with my 98...the ignition fuse is faulty. This is a widespread problem among Stratuses. My tranny on my 98 would have to be "special ordered"...pricey fix. Stratus is a nice car...it's fast, it zips me around curves easily, gets really good gas mileage, my tank is still sitting just below full tank after running errands around town and driving 10 miles coming home.
