In response to driver suggestions, Acura re-engineered the RL for 1998. The 1998 featured a firmer suspension and better vehicle steering and control.

The engine remained a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 210 horsepower and 224 lb-ft of torque. Gas mileage was estimated at 19 city/25 highway. A Special Edition trim was available for the first time, which featured heated front seats, a CD changer, and two-tone paint.

Drivers have mixed reviews of the 1998 RL. Most love the ride, saying that it is smooth, luxurious, and agile. Some say that the car feels like a slightly more spacious Honda Accord. All in all, it seems as though this is a good car, just not up to the level of luxury that one might expect from an Acura.
