I totally enjoy driving the Probe, especially when it's 5-speed. I've owned about three of them now. However, the head gaskets seem to always be the main problem with these cars. This car looks really good and is great for customization projects but the head gasket is a problem. I'm having trouble with that in my '93 Probe now. Still trying to decipher what to do with it. But I'll always love the Ford Probe!!

Performance - it has a small twenty four valve v6, but has a great design. it has a variable resonance induction system which was designed by porsche. and the stroke is much shorter than the bore so it has a lot of rpm(which is something you would find in a ferrari). it also has duel overhead cams giving optimal torque/horsepower at any rpm. the brakes are phenomenal, discs all the way around. handling wise, a guy that professionally drifts s14 race cars(Phil Morrison) said that the probe gt handles better than the s14 which has a professional racing suspension. Build Quality - for being so old i wouldn't have expected this car to be built so good. it takes hours just to get the front bumper off because of where everything is at, hidden and underneath other things, its not built cheap..and there is virtually no blind spots, the car was designed very well, unlike a mitsubishi eclispe, you can see where the front of the car stops, and through your rear windshield. sway bar links and engine mounts tend to go, as do distributors and oxygen sensors but thats normal for any car. Apperance - the interior looks very modern to this day, especially if you put a new stereo in it. it only has one cup holder though.. exterior wise, it looks like it was made in 2008! sleek body styling, power windows, power moonroof. Cost - the car can be found very cheap nowadays but most likely they aren't in good condition. new back in 93 the car cost $21,000, so today it would cost a lot more. Fun Factor - the car is fun to drive, very sporty. it has great gas mileage, even better than a cobalt .

The Probe would have made a great Mustang Killer if it had RWD. The one i had, came with the KTLE motor with 201 HP and it was QUICK! The fastest car I've owned and i will eventually buy another. If it's a first car or even a project car it's a good choice. I didn't have any real problems I only sold it so i could get my GTi. The Torque of the V6 was noticable but so was the gas bill. It was a bit of a guzzler, but it was fun to drive.

The Finest Lines to Ever Come From Ford. A 93 w/caribbean blue finish and 95 chrome wheels. Purchased with 69,200 miles and owned by a sweet little lady who kept it in the garage during the winters. It even had two of the original tires.
