As polished as this 100% stock 5.0L Mustang GT was, I was a little disappointed with it's performance. This particular car was built from factory to be a cruiser with highway gears and not the typical pep that 5.0L Mustangs are known for. It was quicker than your average car, but had trouble even spinning the tires. For a 5.0L Mustang, it was all show and no go. Braking and handling was typical of what you'd expect from a domestic car...not exceptionally great, not terribly bad. The build quality of the car was decent with the exception of some of the interior panels which didn't fit and line up like they were supposed to. This particular Mustang was very well looked after before I owned it and I continued to baby it, as does its current owner so everything on it was like new. The only on going issue I had with it was the idle kept searching despite replacing numerous sensors and checking for vacuum leaks. Nothing I did could pin point the problem and as far as I know the current owner still hasn't been able to fix it either. Appearance-wise, this car was damn sexy! I loved seeing people turn their heads as they saw this car go down the road...even if it was just because it was so shiny and bright! I kept it looking like a million bucks and even added a few tasteful details to the exterior to enhance its appearance. Inside the car was super clean and still even smelled like a new car. It had a light grey cloth interior that was easy on the eyes. Fuel economy was surprisingly good for a V8, but that's because the rear end was geared for highway. Didn't really have too many maintenance issues with it other than replacing the water pump and of course the surging idle problem. I took it upon myself to upgrade the exhaust system to a Dynamax Ultra Flow setup with an X pipe effectively removing two of the four catalytic converters. I had the new 2 and a half inch exhaust pipes ceramic coated to a polished chrome-like finish. Still, the car didn't have the sound I was looking for despite the nearly straight through mufflers. This was the second car I ever owned. However, it was the first really nice car I owned. I had my share of fun in it for the five years I owned it, but I have to admit that I rarely drove it because it was so mint I feared it would get scratched up. I ended up selling to buy my '58 Plymouth Belvedere. It was a difficult decision, but a necessary one so that I could move on to my next dream car.

Performance is great on acceleration. Not the greatest handling without upgraded suspension, but not at all bad. Build quality is great, considering it is a 20 year old car, it has needed only minor repairs. Love the body style, but as far as the interior goes, i plan on replacing it with interior from the 03-04 anyway. Gas mileage is not bad, but could be better, and is inexpensive to maintain. As far as the fun factor goes, ask anyone who owns one, we all love them.

1989 Ford Mustang GT, 351 windsor being stoked out to a 408 as we speak, 5 speed, skinnies on the front and drag radials on the back, jeg sportlite wheels, dynomax mufflers with jegs exhaust cut-outs, granettelli subframe connectors, 1.5in cervinis mach 1 hood i love this car

This Mustang definitely gets you around quickly. This particular one has been modified, so it's definitely faster than stock. It's not a very solid car, lots of noises in the interior and rattles, but it holds together. I personally don't think it's a great looking car but out of all the older Mustangs of that generation it's the best. This one has the body kit on it and the Cobra rims. It's alright on gas, but it has 410 gears in the rear so that certainly doesn't help. Maintenance so far has been little, it leaks a bit of fluid and the clutch self-adjuster went, as well as alternator, but these are common wear and tear issues. It's very fun to boot around in, just watch the traction on those corners! I also don't like how the steering wheel is aligned slightly over to the right so you are actually not sitting quite straight in the car.
