Overview
Toyota completely redesigned the Camry for 1987, ushering in the second generation of America's current best-selling sedan. The car's look evolved into a sleeker, more updated style, although it still looked conservative. Toyota abandoned the hatchback and introduced a Camry station wagon.
By reducing road noise and vibration, Toyota began to distinguish the 1987 Camry as a car for people who didn't want to really notice their cars and only wanted a smooth, quiet, unremarkable ride, unlike its competitor the Honda Accord, which offered the driver more "road feel" and interaction.
The 1987 Camry still came with a 2.0 liter, four-cylinder engine, but this time boasted 115 horsepower, due to its new 16-valve twin cam engine. For the first time, the 1987 Camry was available in three trim levels: base, the DLX and the more upscale LE. Fuel economy for the 1987 Toyota Camry was approximately 29 miles per gallon.

My wife bought her "Camy" brand new in April 1987 after comparing it with most other cars in the $19,000 - $20,000 range. At this time, it has 85,500 miles on it and although it runs great, it is showing its age. The only major mechanical problem was the distributor went away. The vehicle gets oil and filter changes every 3 months, new plugs, rotor, cap and wires annually as well as alignments and air/fuel filter changes twice a year. She has already said that when she decides to purchase a new car, she will just retire "Camy" in the garage and purchase a new Camry which means my truck will be outside.

The car handles very nicely on the road, has excellent steering, the brakes are good, it doesn't need much maintenance and it has decent gas mileage. I think it's a stylish car on the outside, it has simple instrument panels that are easily read, it has very comfortable seats and a large trunk for it's size. All in all, it's a good, robust car that is comfortable to drive, well suited for the norwegian winter and it'll probably keep on going until doomsday.

This car is incredible, I have had it for 8 years and it drives awesome in the snow, and is the best road trip car, its needed it work (Love) but it has always been true to me.

I liked everything about it actually...cept the fact that it was an old turd. But it never broke down, or gave me problems. It could run for miles without any tune-ups or anything...Reason i give it a five star performance lol
