Overview

The 1984 Chevrolet Camaro was among the most popular Camaros ever produced. Over 260,000 thousand were sold, over 100,000 of which were Z28's, an all-time high for the trim.
A four-speed automatic with overdrive was now available as an option on the base. However, despite the performance of the Z28s and the overdrive on the base, it was the instrumentation on the Berlinetta that garnered the most press. It had all-digital panels and detailed gauges.
The base engine was again a 90-horsepower inline four, with the high end being the Z28's L69 5.0-liter HO V8, rated at 190 horsepower.

Stylish in the 80s, but it does not have a classic look that would grab attention today. The unique attribute of the early 80s was the T-tops. Removing the glass panels was quick, but they took up the entire storage area which was very inconvenient. The 305 small block V8 only made 150hp, but performance was good for the time. Exhaust was well tuned and produced nice low rumble. The 4-speed automatic transmission was weak link as it began to slip after only 3 years and soon had to be rebuilt, of course after the warranty expired. Overall it was a fun car and held its value through the 80s but fuel economy was very poor, averaging around 12 – 13 mpg around town.

The handling is one of the greatest parts about the car. It also looks great and feels great to drive. You feel like you're in a racecar when you're driving it down the road. There's nothing that feels quite like an '84 Camaro.

Performance- My transmission was never 100% from the start so I never got its full potential. But for a V-8 I felt it was pretty slow. Build Quality-The only thing that was bad were the T-tops. They leaked BAD! so if you ever buy one test it with a hose or check it out after a rainy night. Apperance-After I painted the racing stripes, the grill and rims black it looked good and unique. I also tinted the rear window, before that it just looked ok. Cost-Passing smog killed me...$500 later it finally passed. Other than that gas milage was ok. Fun Factor-SO fun! Ill never forget fishtailing around every turn in the rain never being able to get traction.
