It's time to hit the reset button as we head into 2024. That means new resolutions to break, writing the wrong year for the first few weeks, and of course, new cars. Last year, the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and Ford Mustang garnered a lot of attention, and when we got behind the wheel, they did not disappoint. Whether you're looking for a sedan, SUV, or truck, there are new models for everyone. Not surprisingly, there are plenty of electric vehicles to go along with the trending shift among shoppers, too. Here are the top 10 vehicles we're looking forward to driving in 2024.

2025 BMW M5
BMW's spiciest 5 Series, the M5, is due sometime in 2024 and we're even more excited about this one than its predecessor. This time around, it will be a plug-in hybrid, similar to the massive BMW XM. Initial reports have the M5's output estimated at an impressive 735 horsepower, routed to all four wheels. We also expect it to have a decent amount of EV range and hope that there's a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) mode again. We'll see how the added weight affects performance, but we've been impressed by BMW's all-electric lineup so far. We're also excited to sample the all-electric i5, which is expected to offer as much as 295 miles of range with a full battery.
2025 Dodge Charger
The death of the muscle car has been greatly exaggerated. We've lost the Camaro and Challenger, but the Mustang was just reworked last year, and the next chapter of American performance is about to unfold. At long last, the 2025 Dodge Charger brings electrification to the class, though details remain very fuzzy. We're guessing that we'll see some hybrid models in a supporting role and a full-electric variant, likely called the Banshee, that will deliver an absurd amount of power. Rather optimistically, Dodge claims a targeted range of 500 miles, but we'll see about that. Either way, consider us eager to sample it for ourselves.
2024 Honda Prologue
We expect a lot from the Prologue, Honda's first true EV for the North American market. This new SUV is a joint venture with GM and uses the Detroit automaker’s Ultium battery pack. (The Prologue’s powertrain is similar to the one used in the Chevy Blazer EV.) The Prologue’s sleek and simple exterior styling is already drawing us in, and the range estimates between 250 and 320 miles should satisfy most shoppers. As with the Blazer EV, the Prologue will be offered as either a front-wheel-drive (FWD) or all-wheel-drive crossover, with a starting price in the $50,000 range. There’s also a sportier and more luxurious variant from Acura called the ZDX, offered with AWD or RWD.
2024 Jeep Recon EV
Jeep's first foray into electrification seems to have been a rousing success, with initial sales of the 4xe plug-in hybrid making up almost 40 percent of Wranglers. If that's any indication, the all-electric Jeep Recon should have an easy time converting adventure-bound shoppers to zero-emission excursions. Unlike the all-electric Jeep Avenger subcompact SUV that CarGurus UK tested this year, the Recon will be sized more in-line with the Grand Cherokee 4xe. Its boxy heritage shape, short overhangs, and Jeep's all-terrain reputation could have this midsize SUV competing against the likes of the pricier Rivian R1S and Ineos Grenadier while giving shoppers a green alternative to the Ford Bronco.
2024 Lexus GX
It's been 14 years since we've gotten a new Lexus GX or the related Toyota 4Runner. While it seems as though we'll still have to wait for a new 4Runner, Lexus has gone ahead and debuted the new GX550. It rides on the same body-on-frame platform as the Toyota Sequoia and Tundra, which all but assures it will have the same kind of off-road prowess as its predecessor. A 319-horsepower turbocharged V6 represents the base engine while a hybrid variant should follow it to market later. Both come wrapped in a bold and very substantial body with sharp bevels to make the GX stand out from the crowd.
2024 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Coupe
We were gutted when Mercedes-Benz killed the original AMG GT, which was offered as a coupe from 2015 until 2021. This raucous sports car felt like the German version of an American muscle car. A snorting V8 growled with ferocity and, as brilliant as it handled, the AMG GT still dared you to push harder. Thankfully, the drought only lasted three years and we have an all-new Mercedes-AMG GT on the way. We're thrilled to report it returns with a twin-turbo V8 that makes as much as 577 horsepower. We're also rather surprised by how much it looks like its most direct rival, the Porsche 911, from behind. It should be a great time to be alive if you’re into sports cars.
2025 Mercedes-Benz EQG
Mercedes' iconic G-Wagen has become a poster child for wretched excess, but that reputation may be changing soon. We're expecting the EQG electric SUV sometime in 2024 for the 2025 model year, but so far, details are scarce. It's a fair bet that it will be offered with four electric motors since a promotional video showed it performing a stationary tank turn where the left and right wheels turn in opposite directions. Power and range estimates are not yet available, but we expect the EQG to be just as luxurious and off-road-capable as the current G-Class. We also expect a price starting well above the six-figure mark.
2025 Ram 1500 Rev
The Ram 1500 has been one of best full-size pickup trucks, helped by a smooth-riding rear suspension and classy interior. With Ford and GM getting into the all-electric pickup truck game, it was only a matter of time before Ram chose to follow suit. We expect the new Ram 1500 Rev to show up near the end of 2024, offering a choice of two massive batteries. Its estimated maximum range of 500 miles is impressive, as is its 14,000-pound tow rating, though there's no way you'll get both at the same time. The 800-volt architecture also means you'll be able to charge at the fastest DC rates.
2024 Toyota Land Cruiser
While details regarding a new 4Runner haven’t been shared just yet, a new Toyota Land Cruiser is officially on the way and it looks as though it'll be homing in on the 4Runner's territory. The Land Cruiser has been downsized from a large luxury SUV to a midsize with a more attainable price. It's built on a similar platform as the Lexus GX, but it goes with a hybrid, 326-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine instead of a turbo V6. Meanwhile, boxy styling gives it a more utilitarian look with the kind of charm of a Lego set—or, in fact, a vintage Land Cruiser. With four-wheel-drive (4WD), low-range gearing, and a locking differential, this new Land Cruiser could have the goods to take on the Bronco and Jeep Wrangler.
2025 Volvo EX30
Surprise! We’ve actually already driven this car, but we had to fly to Barcelona to do it, and now we’re looking forward to seeing them on American streets. Volvo got into the EV game early with its Recharge lineup and Polestar offshoot brand, but the new EX30 may be the Swedish automaker's giant leap forward. Available with either RWD or AWD, this subcompact crossover (or big hatchback)’s 64-kWh battery should return as much as 275 miles of driving range on a single charge. Although the total range spec isn’t as impressive among electric cars today as it used to be, it’s still impressively efficient. And the starting price is a real treat: With an MSRP under $40,000, the EX30 could very well be Volvo's license to secure new customers and eventually print money. Besides the Tesla Model 3 and Kia Niro EV, there's really nothing to compete with it until Chevrolet revives the Bolt next year.
