What’s New for the 2026 Nissan Murano

After a completely redesigned Nissan Murano was launched for the 2025 model year, there's little new for 2026. Nissan has shuffled the features across the lineup of three trims, and makes all-wheel drive (AWD) standard even on the base SV. Pro Pilot 2.1 is an option for the range-topping Murano Platinum, and the SL gets optional ventilated and massage seats with the Comfort Package.

Design

The 2026 Murano features a striking exterior design inspired by Nissan’s Ariya all-electric crossover, with a modern front-end design and a unique LED light signature. The SV and SL variants get 20-inch wheels as standard, while the top-of-the-line Platinum versions roll on a dedicated set of 21-inch wheels. To further elevate it from lesser Muranos, the Platinum can also be optioned with two-tone paint, featuring a black roof and a choice of four colors for the body.

Powertrain

Only one powertrain is available for the 2026 Nissan Murano—a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a nine-speed automatic. The turbocharger features a variable compressor for improved response and efficiency. Power is rated at 241 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

Interior

Nissan created a premium interior for the Murano, with spa-like amenities. Massaging front seats are standard on the Platinum and now available on the SL trim, while a panoramic moonroof is standard on the SL and Platinum trims. The Murano only offers two rows of seating for five passengers, but the resulting cargo capacity is an impressive 32.9 cubic feet.

Technology

All 2026 model year Nissan Muranos include dual 12.3-inch displays allowing you to customize your digital landscape. Google Built-in is standard on the SL and Platinum trims, bringing familiar apps such as Google Maps to the dashboard. The SL and Platinum trims also get a Bose 10-speaker sound system as standard equipment.

Safety

All trims come standard with Nissan Safety Shield 360 and ProPilot Assist. These systems give the Murano a full suite of driving-assistance and safety features such as automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitor, and adaptive cruise control with steering assist. Nissan ProPilot Assist 2.1 is available on the Platinum trim, allowing attentive drivers to travel hands-free on the highway, thanks to advanced camera and radar systems. Finally, the 2026 Nissan Murano earned a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
