What’s New for the 2026 Mercedes-Benz EQS
Now in its fifth year, the Mercedes-Benz EQS carries over mostly unchanged for 2026. Mercedes now supplies the EQS Sedan with a NACS (North American Charging Standard) DC fast charging adapter, which enables access to the Tesla Supercharger charging network. Otherwise, the EQS Sedan maintains the same lineup and features as the 2025 model.
Design
The EQS is a large sedan with seating for five. It has a long, low profile, and looks premium rather than sporty, with plenty of presence. The design is aerodynamic, clean, and appropriate for an EV, though the styling alone doesn't betray its performance capability. Typical of the brand, the EQS Sedan is available with big, eye-catching wheel designs.
Powertrain
The base EQS 450+ Sedan features a single motor on the rear axle, making 355 horsepower and 419 pound-feet of torque, while the EQS 450 4Matic Sedan adds a second motor up front, which adds all-wheel drive (AWD) and brings torque up to 590 lb-ft. Finally, the EQS 580 4Matic Sedan bumps power to 536 hp and 633 lb-ft of torque. The EQS Sedan is capable of DC fast charging from 10 to 80% in about 31 minutes. Range tops out at an estimated 390 miles for the base EQS 450+ model.

Interior
The EQS Sedan seats five, but despite its big footprint, taller passengers will want to be cautious of being stuck in the second row, where the sloped roofline cuts into headroom. Otherwise, it’s hard to find a bad seat in this Mercedes. While front riders get the best amenities, such as standard heating and ventilation, leather upholstery comes standard. There are plenty of upgrades, too, such as Nappa premium leather, massaging front seats, and rear seats with heating, ventilation, massage, and power adjustments.
Technology
The EQS Sedan’s high-quality, comfortable cabin gets a modern edge thanks to the Mercedes Hyperscreen, which comes standard. This 56-inch display incorporates a digital instrument cluster, a central touchscreen, and a smaller touchscreen for the front passenger, with features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and a 15-speaker Burmester surround-sound audio system. If you need more digital goodness, Mercedes offers a rear-seat tablet, rear wireless charging, and a a 23-speaker Burmester stereo system.
Safety
The EQS Sedan has one of the most comprehensive menus of safety and driver-assistance features you’ll find in a Mercedes. Even the base version comes with a 360-degree camera system, forward-collision alert, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane centering, lane-change assist, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, park assist, evasive-steering assist, and a driver-attention monitor. For options, there's an augmented reality navigation system and a head-up display (HUD); everything else is included. Like the other vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz EQ lineup, along with many luxury EV competitors, the EQS Sedan has not been evaluated for crashworthiness by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
